Question How to get replacement Canadian Citizenship card ASAP

    Posting this for a friend.

My friend lost his citizenship card and we are planning to go to Vietnam this December.

    we found

    http://www.immigroup.com/

dunno bout this but no reviews on google that i found.

anyone know of any other services? i couldn't find any rush service the Canadian Government has by themselves........so im wondering how that immigroup does it.

on the Canadian Government website it says it can take up to 7-10 months but my co worker mentioned her friends replacement card has been over a year now.........

he's willing to pay for the rush service but yeah just wanted to get some opinions on here or any experiences.

    thanks!

You can replace a passport within a couple days; I don't see why a citizenship card would be different. Go chat with someone downtown at the Harry Hays building, they might be able to give you some insight.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why do you need a citizenship card to go to Vietnam?

He is doomed. It will likely take a year or possibly longer. That website really wont help :\

passport was lost along with citizenship certificate, not expired. Citizenship certificate is needed to get a new passport.

Immigroup has a rush option for $610 and they said it takes 6-7 weeks. Anyone ever used them before?

I lost mine several years ago, and needed an updated passport to attend a once-a-year course being offered outside of Canada. They asked me to have my boss or program director write a letter explaining that I needed my citizenship card ASAP in order to travel for work. I submitted the info, my new photo and all the other relevant papers.

I got my card within 2 weeks, and my passport 3 days after that.

I lost my citizenship card when my parents moved, and then my passport expired. It only took a few months for the card to be replaced. I put my application in in July I think and got the card by late sept early oct if i remember right.

I was in the same boat as your friend back in march. I lost my citizenship card and my passport was expired... A new citizenship card can take up to over a year to process and I thought i was going to be screwed.. However in speaking to the people at the passport office and explaining my situation, they said that I could get a temporary passport that was valid for 2 years at which time I would have to reapply (and by that time my citizenship card would have arrived).. I just needed to prove to them that I had re-applied to the citizenship card.. it costs $75 to reapply for a card.. You pay the application fee (can be done online), courier the application to Halifax, and provide the receipt to the passport office...
This is a MUCH easier and cheaper method of doing things rather then paying someone to expedite your card...

I suggest your friend go to talk to the people at the passport (I went down to the one in SW by evergreen).. If you have any questions, feel free to ask..
