As the subject states, I'm looking for a good mechanic in Calgary to do a PPI for a TL-S I'm interested in purchasing. Thanks!

I assume it's an old model (00-03) TL-S?? If so, be super careful on the tranny with those...i'd have a dealer check it out...the inspection will pay for itself, as you can use things wrong with the car as a bargaining chip against the price

Dealership inspections are sometimes useless. I took a car in for an inspection and they said the car had an oil leak and when i asked from where they responded " I don't know" and that it would cost extra to tell me where it was coming from.
Nope it is a 2007 TL-S.
Hmm that's why I was thinking of taking it to a private mechanic instead of one at the Acura dealership. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
Exactly. People don't know that diagnosis isn't as easy as "telling you what's wrong"Originally posted by Rat Fink
If the engine is covered in dirt/oil buildup, do you expect a mechanic to do a full engine shampoo, put dye in the oil, road test it, and bring it back into the shop and check it with a UV light for free? If you don't pay, he won't get paid.
They could guess on what is leaking, but if you bought it and something else ended up being the cause of the leak you would be bitching today about that. LOL
Acura dealer really, who knows more about their vehicles. Try and get an older mechanic, one who worked on the era of vehicle. I had an RSX inspected, the mechanic caught a cracked air box and said it was minor, simply needed to be taken off with care. Plugs were toast, unknown from driving it but all were replaced and good for another 80,000 kms or so.
Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

The engine wasn't covered in dirt/oil build up. I ended up buying the car and taking it to a private mechanic that hoisted it up and pin pointed the exact location of the leak cause the rest of the underbody was clean.Originally posted by Rat Fink

It was a quick fix and any good mechanic could visual see where it was coming from.
I decided to book an appointment with the local Acura dealer to do my PPI
