BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics (VED) sports car concept approved for production

German AMS reports that BMW's board of directors has decided to green-light the Vision Efficient Dynamics for production at the Leipzig plant. According to this report, the VED is scheduled to hit the market in 2013 using a regular combustion engine. The drivetrain concept shown at last year's unveiling of the VED (1.5l Diesel engine + two e-motors) is said to follow later. In other news, this report also mentions that the Leipzig plant is said to produce the new entry level BMW car.

When it comes out it'll look like a rebadged R8... Can already see similarities.

Sexy as it is there, it'll look nothing like that come production time. Concept to production are always a dissapointment

Not sure where the R8 comment comes in - doesn't look anything like one... Though yeah... Want to see how the production version will come out; probably nowhere near as nice lines...

But I wouldn't wanna know how much that windshield would cost - christ, i'd be afraid to drive it in calgary
