Need some advice, so I was doing time trial for the last race in a McLaren I was getting in the 1.33's, when it comes to online race I get a Renault and man I suck! what do I practice in?

It doesn't matter. All the cars on xbox live are the exact same speed. I practice using McLaren, and it feels the same as all the cars.

Are you sure you're using the exact same setup?

Join races where car performance is set to equal, instead of 2010. We use the equal setting in our championship.

With the 2010 setting, higher ranked ppl will get first priority for car preference, giving them a huge advantage.

Mibz brought up a good point, do we want to extend race distance to 30%? 10 laps seems to go by fairly quick. I'm up for 40% as well.

20% and already the entire field laps Mibz (and me), only thing 30 and 40% will do is allow everyone to lap the backmarkers (again).

Only difference I see is that it'll allow the front runners to truly shake out to see who is better and recover from 1st lap mistakes.

I'm happy with whatever race distance we go with. Pretty fun racing even tho I'm so crappy lol

OK this may be a touchy subject, but a lot of the speed that I found was due to really tweaking out the setups. I basically found a solid 1-1.5s improvement between the default "engineering setups" vs a custom setup tailored to the particular track.

I know a lot of you guys don't know how, or want to explore custom setups (haysen spent at least 3 nights on perfecting his setup), so what are your thoughts on ONLY allowing engineering setups to try to close the gap up between the front and the back? That means zero mods to the setup, including gear ratios (one of the biggest performance gains).

It'll be hard to enforce, since the game does not allow for this restriction, so I expect everyone to use the honor system.

What are your thoughts?

Everyone finished on the lead lap the last race, so it's closing up a bit compared to the first 2 races.

Gear ratios and brakes are the only things I play with. I leave the rest on the Engineer settings.

Are we also going to restrict in race changes of the Wing and engine type?

I am game for standard setup for everyone as it levels it a little more for people who don't have time to spend 3 nights tweaking setups. haha

I'd prefer allowing custom setups. It makes the game alot funner IMO. Malaysia's the only track I'll have to spend 3 nights on anyways haha. The other tracks usually take 10-15 mins (tweaking setups from previous tracks). Plus, we can't really enforce the restriction.

I'm OK with standard setups too though, if everyone thinks it's more fair. More practice time that way haha.

Change my mind I agree with mibz below. Keep it sort of realistic. If you put in effort you get rewarded.

I don't see a reason that effort shouldn't be rewarded. If you want to spend the time figuring it all out and tweaking it perfectly then have at 'er. I don't have the patience to play this game any more than I have to and I don't mind continuously being a back marker because that's all I've earned.

I started using wing change last race and I was kinda surprised how much it helped so I think I'll start doing it for every race.

No custom setups will make the racing closer, and will reward better driving rather than better setups. Some people can play this game 5 hours a day, and some play 5 minutes before 9pm on mondays. I think custom setups will stretch out the field even more. Those that are near the front are likely those that play more, and likely those that use custom setups. Its really up to how everyone wants the racing to turn out. I know the frontrunners are all pretty close in pure pace, probably within 1-1.5s within each other, so stock setups will also make it harder for frontrunners to make passes.

But there's no way of enforcing it, so we could just scrap the idea. I don't trust you fuckers anyway
And I like 9pm. I don't know if I can make it home on time by 8:30 every night.
