Yes. You can add door dings and hit & run damage to that list too. And exposure to hail all summer long.
Buy a beater if you are going to be parking at the C-train station. Just pick up some $2000 POS and use that to go from your house to the station. If you drive a nice car you will be on the hook for all deductibles and subsequent premium increases, with 0% chance of ever catching the person who did the damage.
I used to see people trolling the lots alllll the time when I took the train, going up and down the rows checking door handles, looking in windows, etc.
I also remember shopping for my previous car, I was looking at tons of Civics, Mazda 3's, Golfs, etc. and a lot of them were C-train station commuters, they were all covered in scratches, door dings, etc. Total garbage.
It's not the same as a normal parking lot because:
1) You are there 5 days a week 8-10 hours a day
2) C-train stations bring in all kinds of crime / vagrants
5 years of parking my car at the ctrain and not one door ding, hit and run, or break in. Maybe your Ctrain bias is showing.
Yes you are there 5 days a week 8-10 hrs a day, but so are the cars next to you. It isn't like it is a constant rotation of cars like a mall parking lot with people in and out all the time.
