I thought they were using less than lethal rounds (who the fuck uses live rounds on a few unarmed and unmasked civilians) but having the guy on the pavement bleeding from the head closed off that theory quick.

Wow, way to send a message by being trigger happy. Were they just itching to use their guns for the first time in their modern existence?

That is messed up, the one guy got just owned in the head. They were saying today online and in some papers the Military was firing in the air, what a bunch of BS they were firing right at them.

A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

The military was probably told that they were irrational anti-government religious zealots. Which is used as an excuse all around the world to shoot on citizens.

They have a ways to go to equal Waco Texas.

Will 100% get flamed for this, but actually kind of like the guy and get what he is saying.

Lots of controversy if you dig slightly deeper than the official media and government reports on what happened.

separate the religious nut stuff, basically the guy was trying to start his own little society - Challenge the government status quo, be self sufficient, question authority etc...

Looking at it with an anti-government lens, is it any surprise what happened?

Just watching Speed Channel.. They are saying that "The Bahrain Grand Prix is on the brink of being scrapped from the 2011 calendar as concerned Formula One chiefs look set to cancel the pre-season test at the Sakhir Circuit."

Was kind of looking forward to the F1 season opener. But after watching the youtube footage, i don't blame them for thinking of canceling the race.

my dad is living in Bahrain right now and drives by the Pearl Roundabout to get to work. Scary stuff. Keeps me updated here and there. Says there are security helis flying over their compound at night. Bags packed ready to leave if necessary.

I sent him that OP video and during our brief conversation it came up how North American governments would react to protesters. I thought for sure not in North America (probably not and I really hope not in the present day and age) but he pointed out some blemishes likely easily forgotten in the past and before my time. Not Canada but still close to home...

Just take a look at the G20 protests. Rule of law thrown out the window.

Don't forget about martial law under trudeau.

    Everyone forgets so easy...

The police were also enabled with far-reaching powers, and they arrested and detained, without bail, 497 individuals, all but 62 of whom were later released without charges.

At the time, opinion polls throughout Canada, including in Quebec, showed widespread support for the use of the War Measures Act.[1] The response, however, was criticized at the time and subsequently by a number of prominent leaders, including René Lévesque, Robert Stanfield,[2] and Tommy Douglas,[3] who believed the actions to be excessive and the precedent to suspend civil liberties dangerous. The criticism was reinforced by evidence that police officials had abused their powers and detained, without cause, prominent artists and intellectuals associated with the sovereignty movement.[4]

Civil liberties don't mean squat if everyone is too pussy to stand up for their rights, and too complacent with attitudes like "that will never happen here", "Doesn't affect me" etc...
