    First!

A 37-year old man from the Crowsnest Pass was killed Thursday night when his truck collided with a bridge and then crashed upside down into the Crowsnest River in the townsite of Blairmore, 220 kms south of Calgary.

Roderick Michael Allen was found dead at the scene when he was located by emergency personnel. The accident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on 20th Ave at the eastern most access into Blairmore. Allen was the only occupant in the truck.

Allen was driving a Dodge truck east on 20 Ave. through the townsite when he lost control rounding a left hand curve in the road. The truck left the road on the right side, striking the bridge that crosses the Crowsnest River, then crashed into the river. The truck landed on its roof. The truck was extricated from the river and the body of the deceased was recovered.

At the time of the accident, roads were in good condition, clear of snow and ice. Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to have been contributing factors.

RCMP are continuing to investigate this accident.

^ Probably a native considering it happened near Crowsnest Pass, that and the name sounds a bit Native-ish
