    Default Skyline Luge at C.O.P

Has anyone here tried Skyline Luge at C.O.P?

    http://www.skylineluge.com/luge-cana...-luge-calgary/

It looks like fun, but I am wondering just how fast you go and if it ever feels like you are going to lose control? Thinking about it from a 9 year olds perspective.

I've been on a steeper one than that that had some tighter corners too.
And I still made it through the entire thing without ever braking.

It was funny, every few corners some concerned mom watching from the side line would freak out and motion how to use the brakes to slow down like I was out of control and about to die.

Went last year with nieces and nephew - All had fun
    We went 3+ times each

They make you go for a mini lesson if it's your first time and you have to demonstrate that you can control it before they will allow you to go further

Steering left to right is like a bike
You control the speed by the handles - pull close to slow down and stop

Hug the sides of the track if you are going slower

Been on a similar one in Utah and ate shit a couple times ejecting myself from the track. Still good times.

I went a few weeks ago with my son.
My only gripe is that they should enforce/use some sort of "slow" lane. Being a typical guy my MO would to be the fastest to the bottom, but there was always some "minivan soccer mom" riding tandem with a little one that would go slow. As my luck would have it, I always caught up to one around some chicanes or hairpins.

Did this a few weeks back. My buddy clocked in at 38km/h on the fastest part. I was probably up to ~45km/h. Lots of fun; highly recommend.

I went twice last year and once (so far) this year, I love it. Go on a Sunday night for almost no lines and a wide open track

I tried going down with no brakes. Understeered and crashed hahaha. I also can't turn, scraping like crazy regardless of lean. I'm fast in a straight line tho. Weight effects is backwards from go karting.

That's what I figured. If there are any good straight aways, I maybe able to reach mach 1.0!

Definitely worth the $20 something for 3 runs if it isn't busy. Surprisingly long too. My only complaint is they let way too many people down at once with zero discretion, for example they will let a family with young children go down, followed 10 seconds later by a group of older guys, and then it gets clogged up.

I dunno how you guys are able to manage getting clogged up. We were passing people like Hamilton passing backmarkers lol. We let slow ppl ahead of us on purpose so it's more fun clearing them down the hill.

It's actually a lot of fun if you go with friends with different weights. The heavy guys like me wont be able to corner worth shit as I scrape and scrub off tons of speed in the corners, but there's enough straight for me to gain it all right back by the next corner ahead. Kenny absolutely destroys me in the turns, but 1/2 way down the next straight I'm passing him already. Really entertaining back and forth battles down the course.

went a week ago with my cousin and brother inlaw. So much fun. Wasnt very busy and rather than spread out we'd try and get into 3 abreast battles on the straight and see who'd come out on top after each turn.

What he fails to mention is that I actually stopped my luge on the track to wait for him to catch up. Not sure how Rosberg does it... so boring up front

Yeah Weight definitely helps on the straights...

i took my kids last summer and they were trash talking saying they were going to wipe the track with me.

I calmly looked back at them and said...gravity...

    You will learn...you will learn...

At the start I calmly rolled past as physics took over.

I would stop and wait for them to pass and slowly catch up again...

My oldest actually ran me into a corner...little bastard... LOL

When you guys eat shit on the track, is it bad? As in lose much skin? I'd love to try this with friends.
