Compostable bags at Canadian Tire - $9.88 for 100.

I can see why the city will be saving landfill space with this program, 10 days since our last black bin pickup and we're still only at less than a black garbage back worth of stuff. Still got to train the two others in our household but if most households are diligent about what goes into each bin, the changes will be quite noticeable. Our back door neighbor had their black bin stuffed only 4 days after pickup, I don't get it. Part of the difference in our household is the pet litter and soiled paper towels that can now go into the green bin as opposed to the black bin plus considerably less is going down the drain through the garberator.
    Will fuck off, again.

The glad bags though get all gross if anything remotely wet is put in them. Have had to start putting flyers underneath the bag in the pail. I am down to one kitchen bag of garbage a week and one compost pail bag a week.

Do you need to use bags? Can you put straight into the cart?

I never had an opinion on recycling, I just do it because they gave us the bins. I'd complain a lot more if we still had to remove labels and whatnot.

Anyway, spent a week in Nashville in an Airbnb place. The city has no recycling program at all. All cans and bottles, garbage. Everything went in the trash. I was hopeful the bars would be forced to recycle, especially with the amount of booze they go through. Nope.

It blew my mind. I never had a strong opinion on recycling until spending time there. The gal at the aquarium in Chattanooga was educating us on recycling like we were in the 90's.

According to family, that's actually pretty normal in a lot of States.

    Wasteful Americans.

But don't forget, we Canadians are the ones hurting the environment with our evil oil sands.

You can do that, but that's gross. Bins get dirty from the truck every week though. Always coats the front of my lid with grass clippings.

It reeks even more if something is stuck inside the bin.

I wonder if raccoons love these green bins.

Composting happens at the facility, not in my garage.

Serious question has anyone ever seen a raccoon in Calgary? I know every once in a while there are sightings but from what I understand they are almost non-existent in Calgary

In nearly four decades of residency, no.

Better. I'm recycling everything even if it doesn't have the recycling logo as long as it's borderline recyclable. I'm guessing some of the shit doesn't belong there, but hey, not my problem haha.

Well I'm paying more taxes, so that's only fair I guess.

Its too bad Calgary didn't adopt Edmonton's approach to composting and recycling. There method is - everything goes into the trash and then that shit gets sorted by hand at the landfill which to me seems absurd...the worst thing about their system is that they dont have any bins so people put fucking black bags in the alley or on the street and birds pick the shit out of everything.
