Well I'm here now.
Bit of culture shock for me, I feel like I'm in Australia. :nuts
Heres the snow reports for the last few days:
Today: Puking snow, couldn't see anything had to call it in early
Feb 16: 35 cm
Feb 15: 20 cm
Feb 14: 20 cm
Feb 13: 5 cm
Feb 12: 25 cm
^ thats from the snow japan website. I think in real life its actually much more. There was way more than 35 cm in the village yesterday.
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/nis...12&thismonth=1
Then there's www.snow-forecast.com According to these guys it never snows here. American propaganda snow reports? Were getting a couple feet a day and they have 0.6, 1, 2 cm for the whole day.
I've never experienced "Waist deep" powder before. Ridden all over and never seen it puking this much snow. I almost wish it would stop - I've been spoiled with too many blue bird riding trips lately.
Beers are 500 yen about 6 dollars
I paid 1500 yen for a hamburger on the mountain today...
a lift pass for all 4 resorts here (all mountain pass) was 84,000 yen for 20 days. That includes night skiing. (one of the largest night skiing areas in the world supposedly.
I'm staying a pretty nice hostel called the Owashi Lodge.
http://owashilodge.com/
Cost was 45,000 for 10 days, may stay a little longer. Very close to the lift.
Will add some more details later...

Hope you write up a big review... I have only been to Japan once but was more South.
I am hoping to go back and see some of the other islands, or go back in the fall as we were there for spring. You had good timing for the snowfall, my brother says it doesn't happen every year (to that extreme).

More pics !!
I will write up a review with some more details later... Still waiting to see what happens with the rest of the trip.Originally posted by bignerd

Funny about what your brother said. Everyone ive talked to here (5 season veteran Aussies) say it always gets this much snow. Last year was a "Bad" year, and they averaged 16 powder days per month.
EVERY SINGLE DAY I RIDE, im in a foot of new snow at least. Most days it's waist deep ridiculousness.
The resorts at Niseko get tracked out within hours, never any lines at the lifts, but all the Australians smash all the powder in herds and most of it is gone until a few hours later when it starts snowing again.
Theres some other less busy resorts just around the corner from here, and I will be day tripping to those and report on the conditions.
This is what I did all day today:

Jealous.
Looks like a good place to learn for a novice, no trees or people, tons of powder not retardedly steep....Originally posted by broken_legs
This is what I did all day today:
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side"
Dang, that's like heli-skiing.
