I'm debating whether we should rotate form 64 conquest a day, then 32 rush on the next day because as it is right now it can't automatically rotate from 64 conq to 32 rush

So I think I've decided to go with gameservers.com for a dedicated BF3 server for Beyond unless anyone else recommend something else?

I will also set it on a quarterly billing cycle to get 5% off.

Now my question is how many players do we want?

What game mode do we want?
conq
rush
conq/rush

and do we want Hardcore mode?
You can do multiple votes, so select Hardcore if you want HC mode.


Even if I'm not the one ordering, atleast we will know what type of server do we want.

wait are there no options for having multiple modes? i dont see why you have to buy specific mode servers?

traditionally you're just buying a server, the only option really is how many ppl and location of the server, it shouldn't matter what kind of game mode you choose they should all be capable of whatever mode the game comes with.

We can select the maps and modes we want to play on the server but I just want to get the overall feel of what modes everyone wants to play and how many slots should we get.

I don't think we really need a server. It's only worth it if we can keep it populated throughout the day, but from what I've seen these last couple nights, most of us are playing during the evening.

If we could get a mumble server instead and organize ourselves to join (semi)empty servers instead, that would be money well spent IMO.

^ it's mostly so that beyond players have a home server to go play with others at the end of the day/weekend.. but the cheap alternative is to find an empty server and claim it ours

right now I just try to connect to any semi full servers and play with random strangers.

I didn't know you could do a multiple vote, My vote would be for 64 player conquest hardcore.

Can you host your own server? I love to know what the upload bandwidth requirements per player are, but I can't seem to find any info online yet.

Wow! Over a grand to have a 64 player server for a year! Hosting has gone up in price since the days of CS 1.5 haha. I don't really care about mode that much. I have yet to play hardcore BF3, I used to play hardcore MW2 exclusively. However I think hardcore BF3 might be a little much as tanks and aircraft would rolfstomp everything/one. I'll hold my judgment until I after I play some (later next week, out of town all weekend).

If we have enough people I would prefer 64, but at this point 32 seems more likely and cost friendly. Should do a mix of rush and conquest I say.

Mainly I'm interested in a Beyond server so we can have OP rights, so we can join the server full or not and get in. Which I believe is how these servers are setup, so if you're part of the "Clan" it boots someone so you can have a space.

total price from gameservers is $242.62 (approx C$248.99) which is approx $83 a month.

I have no problem pitching in up to $10-15 a month.

Yeah 10-15 a month is good in my books. Wouldn't mind if there's a 6 month term or something so we can all just pitch say 60-100 every 6 month until we're tired of it.

We should start a list in the first post for confirmed participants so we can get an idea for what we'll be paying.

1 year up front.....$848.13 (approx C$870.41) = 70.68 a month
6 months up front $449.01 (approx C$460.81) = 74.84 a month
3 months up front $236.98 (approx C$243.21) = 79.00 a month

there's the option to pay quarterly(5% off), semi(10% off) and annually (15% off)

I was looking at gameservers as well. I was gonna go ahead and organize it by next week, but if you wanted to go ahead and do it, I will just pitch as well. I think the 6 month thing is a good idea, saves having to constantly collect every month.

Through gameservers you can actually setup a clanpay thing once you've created it that bills all the members after the initial server purchase, kind of a cool idea.

Anyone know if you can have reserved slots for BF3. I know my MC server can be setup to boot people if an OP logs in but not sure how BF works..

I don't want to force every1 to a set amount, so it depends on how much they are able and willing to contribute but the prices doesn't look too bad with 12 members.
