couldn't this whole problem be avoided by buying an iphone from apple direct, or simply purchasing one from the service provider you plan on using, vs buying from Bell - when you have no ties to them???
I've been searching on eBay, but I can't find a company that unlocks Bell iPhones.
I also checked protechparts.ca but they only unlock Rogers/Fido phones.
Has anyone had any experience with www.cellunlocker.net?
They seem to be able to unlock Bell iPhones
Activate iPhone w/ Bell, wait a few weeks, call in and ask for unlock.Originally posted by OzzyOzzman

Or, have a friend on Bell unlock your phone for you.

I've had really good experience with them. Unlocked about 5-7 phones for myself and friends/family, both Android and iOS. Quick service, and my only issue (where the unlock reversed itself), they refunded my money promptly.Originally posted by OzzyOzzman

I have good experience with cellunlocker.net unlocking phones like Blackberry and Samsung but never used them for an iPhone.
Call bell, tell them to unlock the phone, pay 50$. If they try to refuse remind them under the new CRTC rules they are legally required to unlock the phone at the customers request.
What is this new CRTC rule you speak of?
The same one that limited contracts to 2 years.Originally posted by rx7boi

I agree. You may also need to talk to a few different reps as some aren't fully aware of the updates (or have been told differently).
Also, keep in mind that they still are within their rights (according to the code, not that I agree with it), that you must be a customer for X days or that the phone must be on the account for Y days. I think the numbers are 90 and 30 respectively, but I can't remember. It should be listed on the link sent.
