Cool iMessage and non IOS phone woes :(

So I used to have an iPhone and recently switched to the awesomeness that is Android!! But now all my friends who have IPhones still keep trying to text me and their iPhone I'd trying to send it via iMessage!!

Obviously I am not getting their text. We tried deleting and re entering my number in their phones but can't seem to get it to work. There's a bunch of complaints on Apples support forum about the same issue.

Anyone have the same problem? Or have a solution??

    TIA

When texting from the iPhone, if the other device doesn't support iMessage then it goes as a regular text. I haven't had any problems, I text non iPhone users all the time. It just goes as a regular text. There is an option in settings which goes 'send as regular text if no iMessage is available', make sure your friends have that selected.

    Ya did that.

I'm not 100% sure but I read somewhere that Apples servers for IMessage Have my phone# now listed as an iPhone so all my friends IPhones will continue to send only via iMessage.

There doesn't seem to be any answers from Apple reps yet...

Seeing if anyone has the same issues and resolved it.

Lol figured it out! Didn't even have to take the Sim out...just had to turn off iMessage on the old iPhone.
