Default How much time should this work take?

    On my 97 Jetta 1.9 TD (IDI) 5sp, A/C

    - Change starter
    - Change fuel filter
    - Change coolant flange on head (the one from the interior heater core)
    - Check for correct (newer) crank pulley bolt, and if need be,
    - Change crank pulley bolt

If anyone has an idea on price on parts in the Alberta region, that would be welcome also.

And finally, if there are any Calgary area mechanics that would can help me out and work on these items, please PM me ASAP.

    Thanks,
    Rico

Not too sure about the crank pully bolt and not sure about VW's and how there set up but on a honda the first 3 would take like 45 minutes? And a rebuilt starter for a honda is like 100$ no sure about the fuel filter cost but a coolant flange should cost at most like 20$. Hope this helps .....do you take your car in and feel as thought you got ripped off. My boss just had this happen to him and he got raped.

DO you have basic mechanical knowledge you could do the starter your self there is just a few bolts and some wires and you just swap the starter and hook it back up.....bolt it in and your good to go. You can also call crappy tire and they will give you prices on anythign you need!

yeah, i might do the started myself, but everything else will go to a shop.

btw, i am among the ones who dont like to use crappy, and id rather go to a vw diesel specific shop anyway.

    thanks anyway,

if you go to a shop.. they are not going to charge you 45 if it only takes them 45 minutes... its called book time... most shops use mitchel... its a guide line of how long it should take... so starter probally 1.5-2 hrs if it takes the tech 30 min... you still get charged 1.5 -2.0 (whatever its is)... and the tech gets paid 1.5-2.0... (flat rate system)
