Do companies even do their own due diligence before they announce something like this?

You should also take a closer look at FedEx, The Gap, and LUSH among others that all have the same stance. A hard working westerner or, any Canadian for that matter, shouldn't give any of these places a buck imo.

I say stupid shit all the time.
I know...it's just shocking and disappointing how such large businesses couldn't (or won't) find the time to do something as simple as a bit of research.Originally posted by A790

Yes, we have no bananas
No problem, I don't want to buy the Bananas. Hell, they are nearly a buck a pound.
I mean sheesh, I swear ground beef was a buck a pound - Oh wait... Sorry wrong decade again.
Dagnabit.
Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.
They said it was a big misunderstand. What a bunch of fucking losers, they get a little bit of pushback and fold. Shows you how much of this was based on PR and how much on real principles.

I thought the Gap and a number of those companies ended up back-pettling hard on that decision?
lol fuckOn March 14, 2007, Chiquita Brands was fined $25 million as part of a settlement with the United States Justice Department for having ties to Colombian paramilitary groups. According to court documents, between 1997 and 2004, officers of a Chiquita subsidiary paid approximately $1.7 million to the right-wing United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), in exchange for local, employee protection in Colombia's volatile banana harvesting zone. Similar payments were also made to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), as well as the National Liberation Army (ELN) from 1989 to 1997, both left-wing organizations.[8][9] All three of these groups are on the U.S. State Department's list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
