    Default Dental work in Thailand?

    hey guys

have any of you had any dental work done overseas, particularly Thailand?
I really want to get my teeth fixed but want to avoid paying so much money in Oz and was hoping to jump over to Thailand for a week or so and get it done.

any tips, advice, suggestions or warnings would be great

There are some vacation companies that specialize in dental vacations to places like that because the work is top notch at significant savings to here (and I assume to there).

IMO it is worth looking into but, like all other things, proper research will be key. You'll need to look further than this forum.

Agree with JRS. You will find some real hack jobs there which provide it at a ridiculously low rate - but you get what you pay for.

Quick search brings up dozens and dozens of links. Start with one like this and get to gathering info./research.

a guy at work was talking about this i need 2 impants for my front teeth, they cost 5000-6000 each. just off the website it says they should cost 700-900 each in costa rica. that's crazy. my health care doesn't cover much if anything for implants. something to look into.

I don't know much about dental work but I know there is some great plastic surgery clinics there. I got really sick in Koh Samui a few years ago and went to a private hospital that was mostly full of tourists and recieved the best service I've ever had in my life. The receptionist took down my info, walked me directly to the doctor who spent an hour looking over everything that could possibly be wrong with me, gave me a pile of medicine and set up a check up appointment with me for a week later to make sure I was healed up. It cost me about $350 which is ridiculous for Thailand, but I've never been taken care of like that before.

While I was at this hospital I was looking up plastic surgery prices which were about half the cost of what surgeons generally charge here and got to talking with some cougar who was talking about all the work she had done and how amazing they were.

I just think what you have to do is do some research and make sure the dentist you use is a good one in a proper facility.

Yep, Thailand, Vietnam and even Cambodia are great places for foreign-trained dentists who can do great work for pretty cheap. Just search around and maybe go on a Thai expat forum to find out what they recommend.

i know personally about 15 expats living in bangkok samui and chiang mai. ive asked the same question, the answer was they get it done there. my cousin had a bad accident and had his collar bone/shoulder repaired there too. there are definitely western style dentists and medical facilities that cater to rich thais and the massive expat community. not sure about prices, my last trip there seemed pricey.... id go to the bar and make friends with sone local expats and ask them. they can telll you first hand whhere to go. good luck.

I think Thailand is for sex tourism. Mexico is for Dental Tourism.
