Default Apple TV 2 Jail Break

Just wondering how Apple TV works, here is a link I saw on kijiji
    http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...AdIdZ343026995

Anyone ever use these guys before? So if you buy the Apple TV and get it jailbroken is everything free forever or do you have to pay on itunes.

until they figure out at way to block you for a while.. and a new version of it comes out to make it free again (I would assume..) just like people who used to (or still do) jack satellite signals for free.

think about if you've ever jail broken an iPhone.. when they put out a new firmware update normally people with jail broken iphones dont upgrade until a new jail brake comes out again I only assume it would be the same idea.

I don't think its itunes movies. Its movies that are uploaded to websites like Ninjavideo did but without having to go through the internet browser. They just set the links in the apple tv so its pretty much like a dvr box.

    My friends brother does them.

It allows you to play content from your computer, a "server", that otherwise wouldnt be played.

Co-worker of mine jailbroke one of my AppleTV's, wanted to use it for streaming (without using iPad, AirVideo and AirPlay), it's way too unstable. The Apple TV doesn't have enough memory and CPU to handle everything, constant reboots. Not a fan.

It accesses uploaded content in Bluray or DVD rip. Great selection for movies and TV shows! My parents are all about their Indian shows and movies, so this is great for them as well. Soon as they found out I had one, everyone in my family is calling to get one set up.

This is why I ordered a Boxee Box. My cooworker uses his to stream 1080p 3D movies from his NAS to his Boxee then plays them on his TV. I figure I'll put in another Gig switch then run cat6 to the boxee and I'm good to go.

You don't need an apple tv... You just need a PC and to install XBMC with the appropriate plugins. The whole apple tv thing is a waste of money and quite the scam. Those people are going to be so screwed when the shut down icefilms or someone revs the plugin...

No issues for me. I run it on my macbook, my iPad, and ATV2

Of course you can do it with a PC/mac aswell, but an ATV is what, $100? So who cares, I don't have a computer hooked up to my tv. My ATV allows me to take it with me anywhere because its tiny. If icefilms disappears, something else will take its place. Its not icefilms that will be the hangup, its media storage. Megaupload holds the key really, with the storage allowances, and the bandwidth that they put through, all seemingly for nothing. That being said, there is a niche, and I would gladly pay the $8.99 that Netflix costs and buy a premium account for a service that provides what megaupload does. Its at least not a waste of money like Netflix is.

I have two XBMC ATV2's as well as one wired to a $200 computer. Things run a bit smoother on the computer, but the ATV is decent once you get to what you want to watch. IceFilms brings the ease of Netflix with the selection of Torrents. Some movies are split into 4 parts which is a pain on the ATV simply because it take a while to load.

It is a good cheap solution but a cheap HTPC would be much better.
