I have a maintenance coming up very soon, and this is one of the items on the list:
Inspect and adjust drive belt.
Is that a fairly labour intensive maintenance item? Or is it simply a "open the hood, and look"?

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
It uses auto tensioner. So I am guessing they'll spend 5 mins just look over it.Originally posted by Rat Fink
I can't see how your Honda still has a drivebelt that doesn't use an automatic tensioner. Everyone else uses auto tensioners so a tech will just take a look at the condition of the belt and make sure the tensioner isn't seized and all other pulleys look good and run quiet which is something that is typically done with any oil change. If your Honda still has tension adjustments for 2010, that's just gay.
They must mean the alternator and other accessory drive belts, your engine uses a timing chain, not a timing belt like older hondas. Timing chains require a lot less maintenance than belts, being that your car is a 2010 i highly doubt its scheduled to have the timing chain looked at or serviced in any way.
Unless you put skunk2 cams in that is.
No cams man lol.Originally posted by 89s1

The maintenance entire maintenance list is:
Oil change
Air filter (doing it myself)
Cabin filter (doing it myself)
Inspect and adjust drive belt.
My thinking was if it is simply a 5-minutes inspection (but charge me for 0.5 hr labor) then I am not going to bother with it, and only ask them to only do the oil change.

buy your oil filter at the dealer and keep your receipt. that way if you have catastrophic engine failure while under warranty they can't blame that fram filter from canadian tire. (cuz they'll try)Originally posted by HiSpec

Edit; oops, i assumed you were doing the oil change too.

most lube tech's simply look at the belt and wear of it.
if it had poor tension the belt would be noisy on start up and load.
I only check for tension on problem vehicles, or when there is a complaint. Ideally you don't grab a belt unless you're 100% sure the vehicle is not going to start.
Thanks guys!!
I will be bring it to one of the site sponsor tomorrow.
Funny thing is since I am doing the filters myself, Honda won't give me "free oil change".
