Hey guys, How does the Plastidip hold up on the wheels say 6 to 12 months down the road? Does it look good as the day it was sprayed on? I want to do mine but heard it looks like ass a few months later......

It costs $10 and if you don't like it - it peels right off. No harm in trying
6000kms on my truck in the winter with two coats and like 10 pressure washes...couple tiny spots where I should've coated a bit more have started to peal but 99% of it looks as good as when I put it on.
Why is this popular now?
What is the appeal?
I think it's appeal is its a durable spray, but it's not permanent. It can last a long time if you do a good prep and spray a few even coats, but if you dont like it, you just peel it off.
It's also got a few colours, but most of them look tacky.
The popularity I'd guess comes from a few guys trying it out and getting good results without needing to do alot of work. And unlike a spray bomb job, if you botch it up or dont like it, you just hose it down, peel it off and try again.
Cheap way to change the colour of wheels, bumpers, etc and gives you the option to go back to the original quickly and easily?Originally posted by Toma

An amateur can spray it on for the "matte black" look, and if they fuck up, they can peel it off and try again.Originally posted by Toma

I don't think it is just to go for the matte ___ look. Lots of people use their glossifier. But yeah this stuff is popular because of the ease of use and is 100% reversible.Originally posted by Tik-Tok

sorry to hijack but this fits into plastidip
can you paint over top of plastidip?
^^ certain paints only. I tried one kind of paint and it immediately started bubbling.
And it can last ok as long as nothing other than water touches them. I had a few rock chips peel mine but I only did two coats.
If you do more than one coat, then you can definitely peel them off.
and has any one had any problems with plastic dip on paint?
not chips and dings but the product to hurt your paint at all?
my plastidip on my bike is not holding up well, over the bike season i will either re paint my bike by a professional or keep redoing the plastidip every 2-3 weeks. it does look good at first but once you touch it with jacket or glove it starts to peel off.
People have been using plasti dip on the nissan forums for a few years now with no complaints, and no its not harmful to your paint.
