So I called today to inquire about renting the ice. The only thing they have is something called the "Big League Experience". It's two 40-minute halves, with all the effects of a real game (Lights, announcements, scorekeepers, the whole game on the jumbo-tron). It sounds like a really wicked time.

    The downside?

    It costs $5000.

If any beyond ballers would like to sponsor our prohockey fantasy game, step right up, otherwise that is way too rich for my blood.

$156.25 each with 32 players. Not bad for the experience but is it really worth it?

Well last couple times after the lockout, the flames won their division and then lost in round so mark my words, they will do the same again. The blowup will happen next year with Iggy and Kipper gone.

Even without two-way pivot Ryan Kesler to start the year, and some uncertainty regarding the ultimate solution to their goaltending situation, the Vancouver Canucks are the top-ranked Canadian team, at No. 5.

Following up a surprising 2011-2012 season, the Ottawa Senators are next, ranked 13th, while the Montreal Canadiens sit 18th, with the presumption that they will get restricted free agent defenceman P.K. Subban signed to a new deal.

After years of languishing at the bottom of the rankings, the Edmonton Oilers are poised for a jump and open this seaosn ranked 16th, an indication that a playoff berth ought to be within their grasp.

Firing general manager Brian Burke didn't have any impact on the preseason ranking for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the fact that the Leafs are currently ranked 26th, with promising defenceman Jake Gardiner sidelined due to a concussion and question marks in goal, does make it appear that they're fighting uphill to start the season.

The Winnipeg Jets are the lowest-ranked of the Canadian teams, at 28th, with goaltending questions and a lack of depth, particularly on defence while Zach Bogosian is injured.

Wow the flames don't even get mentioned..

The Flames have been mired in mediocrity, not quite good enough for the playoffs, not bad enough for an elite draft pick, but they tried to get better this offseason, adding D Dennis Wideman along with forward Roman Cervenka and Jiri Hudler. Throw rookie Sven Baertchi into the mix and new coach Bob Hartley has some decent depth, but it still looks like a team that will have to battle for one of the final playoff spots in the West.

I am actually excited to see calgary this season. I don't think they will go far but we have a lot of new pieces coming into play this year that could make it interesting if they all perform. A short season will also benefit kipper.

I don't understand why we are allowing out second best goalie to be playing in the KHL still, like com on get him here and give him a shot.

When he is signed to a contract we dont have a choice. Feaster mentioned a few times they tried to buy out his contract, but when Ramo is the top goalie on the top team it isnt very easy.

I know. I'm just talking about the article itself. Mention all the other Canadian teams but the flames.

standing back, you have to look at calgary as old and slow still and they will have a tough time getting a playoff spot with their current roster. virtually everyone has a chance to make teh playoffs though, except maybe columbus.

there will be a considerable amount of divisional matchups and if the flames can somehow grind out wins and things fall apart fast for other teams, they could weasel their way to a spot in the dance but only if they get anything decent outta kipper. the missed time and fast start could be either bad or good, depending on how kipper handled the lockout. if hes the same old kipps, calgary can possibly grind out some wins and make a run at it.

Old I will agree with slow not so much

Cammy, Iginla, Glencross, Sven, Horak, Gio, Jbo, Hudler, Cervenka, Backlund. Those guys all have great speed IMO. Even Jones has good foot speed.

That's quite the schedule, pretty much a game every other day.

Hmmm there are no Sportsnet scheduled games yet, almost every game last year was on TV, hopefully it'll be the same this year.

Any one stocking up on Flames gear? Fanattic has 50% off everything.

$67 blank jerseys, $112 numbered, $150 blank authentic.

They are also selling game worn jerseys this year, $350-2000.

How long is the sale on for? Do you happen to know Mac?
