Looking for new or would used work? era.ca usually has a boatload of used stuff, got a Netgear 24 port switch from them for $20. Last time I was there, they had 5 - 6 foot tall pallets of switches, routers and an assortment of other networking gear - 48 port routers or switches for $20, take your pick.
i was thinking there, me and my friend picked up a tv (350) we get home, didnt turn on . we than asked if there is anything they can do about it. wasnt a good experienceOriginally posted by speedog

ironically the hp i bought (that beeps twice in another thread i was asking for support)
how many ports do you need and what is affordable to you?
Sig nuked by mod.
Depending on your needs, you can pick up a PoE Cisco 3560 used for around $3-400. I've also seen HP Procurve 2626-PWR's go for $150 used...
Edit:
I missed the quiet part apparently.
The 2626-PWR are fairly quiet i suppose
Etherwan all the way!

How many PoE ports do you actually need? You could just get a PoE injector and a cheap(er) non-PoE switch. That would cut down on the cost and the amount of noise/heat that's going to be generated if you only need a couple of PoE ports.
i've bought stuff before from www.networkhardware.com but again depends what your budget is like and what needs you have, the old standby of a cisco 3560 is time tested
JDM Powrrrr !
thanks for all the replies:
I need about 6 POE plugs (100mb)
At the other ends some are cameras (security) and some routers used in bridge mode, specifically very high powered buffalo g router (5 volts @ 2.5 amps) i picked up a tendnet poe splitter from my friend for 20 (it is adjustable /with led voltage)
I will review my options provided her once again thank you.
