    Default Another Computer Build Thread

Trying to build a pc for around $1000 with peripherals. Not a completely solid budget though. Would be awesome to get something for around $900 but might go up to $1200.

I was looking at this: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42479

But apparently that processor isn't very good and I'd like to throw in a solid state hd.

When I tried building it myself I came up with something like this:

    Intel Core™ i5-3570K Processor, 3.40GHz w/ 6MB Cache
    Stock: 10+
    x1$229.99
    [Remove]
Asus HD7850 DirectCU II V2 Radeon HD 7850 2GB PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort
    Stock: 1
    x1$209.99
    [Remove]
    G.SKILL RipjawsX Series 8GB PC3-10666 Dual Channel DDR3 Kit (2 x 4GB)
    Stock: 9
    x1$62.99
    [Remove]
    WD 1TB Blue 7200rpm SATA III w/ 64MB Cache
    Stock: 10+
    x1$74.99
    [Remove]
    Asus Maximus V Formula w/ DualDDR3 1600, 7.1 Audio, GB Lan, WiFi, BT4.0, SLI / 3-way CrossFireX
    Stock: 4
    x1$269.99
    [Remove]
Bitfenix Shinobi ATX Case White w/ Window
    Stock: 3
    x1$79.99
    [Remove]
BenQ GW2750HM 27in Widescreen VA Panel LED LCD w/ HDMI, Speakers
    Stock: 10+
    x1$249.99
    [Remove]
Arctic Cooling K381 UltraSlim USB Keyboard, White
    Stock: 6
    x1$19.99
    [Remove]
    Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 64-bit (x64) DVD - OEM
    Stock: 10+
    x1$154.99
    [Remove]
Asus BC-12B1ST 12x Blu-ray Combo Drive, SATA, OEM
    Stock: 9
    x1$69.99
    [Remove]
Corsair Force Series GT SATA III Solid State Drive, 120GB
    Stock: 4
    x1$129.99
    [Remove]

    Sub Total:$1,552.89

That's probably $3-400 than I'd like to spend. Any suggestions? PC will be used for a bit of pretty much everything.

Dude, talk to Simon (Vagabond142). He's built my last two PC's and both have been screamers. The latest one (got today, actually) is similar to what you've got but it's got 16GB of ram and a nVidia GTX680 card.

Anyway, he'll give you the best bang for your buck

I was actually thinking about messaging him or you but figured he'd be at work and I want answers NOW.
    I'll give him a shout.

Step down to a cheaper Core i5 like the 2400 is $180 vs $230 for 3570K. Savings $50

Cheaper Vid Card, for the money at $110 decent card. Saves $100

Pick either the 1TB drive for lots of space or the Corsair for speed. Are you going to be storing lots of movies? Buth the 1TB, not worried about storing a whack of movies, go with the SSD. Saves ~$100

You picked a somewhat expensive board with the Max V Form. This saves $90

Really plan on watching Blu-Ray on you PC? If not get a normal DVD drive. $20. Saves you $50

Switching to slightly lower end components saves about $400.
Not to mention, appears you don't have a power supply... +$110 http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX26068

I would get a 128 GB Crucial M4 over that Corsair SSD. Better controller, unless something's changed.

Also remember to price beat EVERYTHING. I saved about $300 on a ~$2000 computer with pricebeats.

Price beating right now is difficult. When we went to get A790's parts, I was trying to price beat and Memex was either the lowest price or near-as-makes-no-difference. They are having some odd, but stellar, unannounced sale atm.

And you can ask A790, I am absolutely mental about pricematching/price beating

Hakk did get a hold of me, and I'll post up my suggested build here when he's had a chance to look it over.

Hakkola, if youre on a budget - I would look at buying a good used PC off kijiji.

Businesses unload theirs all the time for the latest and greatest. Even hardcore gamers will upgrade regularly.

Once youre ballin' (like the rest of beyonders) then you can go all out.
