You handled it fine.

But if you want to look at perfection, I believe you could have made your stop a little closer (you left a couple meters of extra room from the looks of it) which would have given the guy behind you more time to stop. Technically if you saw this happening you could have put on your hazards as well.

However, these are just "nice to have" things. You handled it fine, and if the guy behind you isn't leaving enough room it is his fault, as Spikers said.

I actually had someone do this on the Trans Canada out towards Banff. Speed limit is 110 I believe (which means everyone is going 120-130), and some asshat decides to brake hard to do a U-turn into one of those rare openings which clearly show you CAN'T enter there. Of course, they don't move over or anything... they basically just stopped in the middle of the highway. Even less likely to predict someone would do this than in a relatively urban area as in your video. It was a pucker moment for us for sure.

It could but it didn’t and I don’t think anyone is in a position to potentially change her life over something so trivial.

At 3:46, why not move to the left lane? Unless you couldn't safely? I know, I know. She had a yield instead of a merge sign but really, I think you should have moved over to the left lane. I'm from Red Deer and deal with that (soon to be replaced) Geatz Ave configuration often, but I have to say, I think this was one of the worst screw ups I've seen at that spot.

(I know I might get chewed out for suggesting to move to the left lane.)

EDIT: Also, what part of QEII did that rollover happen on?

I had someone next to me in the left lane in my blind spot. They were braking hard like me too so obviously I couldn't jet over.

The truck flip happened just north of Airdrie, right before the sign. Crazy wind and black ice in that spot.

Based on that logic it's ok to drive impaired as long as no one gets hurt that one time......

What?? He posts videos online because that's the entire point of this thread. Passive aggressive bitch?? What should he be doing then, getting out of his vehicle and approaching people? That's called road rage.

Sending videos of someone on the phone while driving to their employer is passive aggressive. I don't condone it at all, I never said I did so don't try to twist my words. I just said it's petty and pathetic to potentially fuck up someone's life over them using a phone while driving.

If it bothered him so much he could have stopped when the girl stopped and calmly told her that she was driving dangerously and to stay off the phone. Instead he just curses away to himself at every driver on the road then sends their employers videos.

I will be honest. When the offender is male I will confront him, unless he is a senior. When the offender is a lady I try to let it slide. With that said more than often one would find women drivers who are overly impatient, talking on the phone, speeding and on top of that give people finger, talk trash etc.

It's interesting you say this. When I was taking my Class 4 road test, I had a driver come roaring up behind and tailgate me. The examiner said "I guarantee you that's a woman." When they moved to the next lane and floored it, we caught a glimpse and yes, female. The same thing happened again 10 mins later. My examiner then pretty much said the exact thing you posted. Haha.

She's breaking the law and likely company policy. I doubt she would get fired but if she did it's probably for the best for the company not to have asshats driving their company vehicles. There's nothing trivial about dangerous driving. I have no sympathy for people that are too lazy to use hands free.
