Default Pleading not guilty for another person

My mom got a ticket for speeding that she wants to plead not guilty for but is unable to make it. The date to show up to the court house is tomorrow and i didn't know till now so i cant get points or other ticket defense places to take care of it so I was wondering if i can just go down there and do it for her.

You can show up for her, but I believe its not gonna reflect good on her part for not showing up. Has to be a valid reason.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

The person has to be present I'm pretty sure.

You could have gone to the ticket lines on the 2nd floor and pleaded not guilty and setup a further date but that would have had to been at least a day before the court date on the ticket as the officer is already been informed and too late to change it.

When I was at my trial for my exhaust ticket, the person in front of me had one of his employees show up for him. Prosecutor asked why he couldn't make it. Said cause he couldn't miss work. Prosecutor and the judge weren't impressed.

But in your case, your mom had more than enough time to reschedule your brothers braces for another time. You can try to ask for a extension and say you don't have your paperwork together yet or something.

Just an FYI for the future, you can go and plead not guilty anytime before the date on the ticket.

For this ticket you can go and represent your mom as her agent and plead not guilty. This sounds like it is just the first appearance (is this the date on the ticket, or is this the scheduled trial date?) so your mom doesn't really need to be there. A court date will be scheduled and hopefully your mom will make the necessary arrangements to show up for that.

You can fax .. Fill out the back and say not Guilty.. Then on a note on the fax say that You need more time to get someone to represent you.. Ive done this 3 times for tickets outside of the city.

And if that doesn't work, your mom might just have to bend over and take it from the man....

So how exactly is your mom "not guilty" of speeding?

Obviously I'm super-late to this party, but I want to add that you can plead not guilty by mail as well. They'll mail you back with a trial date.

Does no one read the back of the ticket?
