    Studies 2-3 hours a night

Has her CPR & babysitting certificates.

Overall an amazing daughter any parent would be proud of.

I think you younger kids are missing the point. Good parenting is about educating your kid about rights and wrongs, but at the same time providing leadership and involvement.

My daughter knows that pop is not good for you and can make that decision on her own, but when we are present and there is an event or party she will still ask if its ok. That is called respect!

Something a lot of young kids these days don't seem to have.

Hypothetical, She is 18, and you are out for dinner together. Would you expect her to ask if its ok to have a glass of wine?

Because any time a thread appears involving a child in the news in some negative fashion, Brad takes it upon himself to tell everyone how he would have parented differently and how his daughter is a perfect special snowflake. He brings it upon himself.

You can technically get a ticket for each window that's illegally tinted. So as above, if you're being an ass to the officer (or if he's just an ass to begin with), he can give you two. (or three tickets if you're dumb enough to tint the windshield of your BMW... but if you own a BMW you can't be stupid right?)

    It's a parent thing.

    I'm a proud papa.

How could they be proud? the kid isn't following their parent's carefully constructed life plan and is therefore a failure. People who live through their kids drive me nuts.

This parenting pissing match is a slippery slope and can definitely get heated so I'll keep my remarks general and not directed to anyone in particular.

Before I had kids (gawd that seems like a long time ago) I had some pretty strong opinions on all kinds of parenting scenarios. One thing I've learned over the years is that until you walk a mile in another family's shoes it's pretty hard to know all the facts involved. Things aren't always as they appear and there can be a lot of contibuting factors that nobody else is aware of. I tend to be much less critical of others when it comes to their kids. I'm happy with how we are doing things at home and it's up to everyone else to deal with their own kids. What works for one family may not be appropriate in another household. And I don't think it's anyone else's business to tell me if what we're doing is right or wrong. You keep your nose out of my house and I'll keep my nose out of yours.

We are her parents, she asks us if its ok.

A good kid brought up right will show his/her parents respect and value their opinions and guidance.

Shame on parents who don't offer that to their kids.
Do you spank her if she drinks a Pepsi without your permission?

Ironic considering you let strangers raise your kids during the day.

I drank pop, energy drinks, and went out late all the time when I was 13-18....

I graduated university, have a good job, and I am more athletic than most people my age.

My parents never monitored me anywhere near the extreme levels talked about in this thread. In fact, they almost never knew what I was up to.

    Am I just fucking special?
