Default 2012 Last Chance Novice TSD Rally Calgary Dec 15th 2012

    Hi All,

The last novice TSD rally of the year is set for Saturday Dec 15th. It starts with a 1 hour introduction to navigational rallying and then things get interesting with a 3.5 hour drive from calgary to airdrie. This is the perfect way to get started in rallying.

    The cost: $35

Requirements: an insured + registered road worthy vehicle with winter tires, a first aid kit and a 30cm warning triangle.

    The website: http://www.cscc.ab.ca/novicetsd/

Let me know if you have any Q's

    Kurt

Is this an annual event? When/if I ever get out of uni I want to do this so badly, too bad it clashes with finals!!!!

Sentry: the CSCC has elected a replacement WAX director but I'm not sure if a venue has been located or not. Prolly best to check the wax forum.

xnvy: There are usually 4-8 events per year in Alberta, some are short cscc novice events and some are quite a bit longer (12hours+) if they are part of the rallywest navigational tsd championship.

Well I can't attend this one but I'd definitely participate in one during the summer months (July, August) when school's out. I assume I should just keep my eye on the CSCC forum and the link you posted and I'll be fine?

too bad I have an exam on the 15th, me and my friend definitely want to hit up some TSD next year. Good to hear some progress in WAX, I hit up an edmonton one and it seemed a little disorganized compared to the calgary autocross events.

Definitely interested. Also, are you still doing the Ghost Lake winter driving event? Is that CSCC?

    Cheers.

We plan on doing more winter driving courses, but do try the TSD -- driving fun of a sort you won't believe!

For the hard core -- come to the next Edmonton rallyx on December 9: http://mrheavyfoot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2685

Find out how you can *really* drive on ice...

I'll be MIA on the 15th but I'm available on the 9th.

Looks like I'll have to do some reading later.

How badly do the cars get beat up doing this stuff? Am I likely to chip some body panels? Is it too risky to take my wife's new car, should I get a beater for something like this?

You are driving on gravel roads -- if you are worried about rock chips in your paint, then you should probably look for a different vehicle.

Can't convince Jo to go again
I have an old Miata that I could use, but I think that a FWD would be a better choice. Some of those roads were a "bit" too hairy in the S2K
