Private medical dental insurance brokers ?

Is there even such a thing?

Google only seems to return "brokers" who work for the big names (Blue cross, AMA, state farm, etc.).

I'm basically looking for a person who can sort through the numerous plans out there and find the most suitable plan for us.

Try Investors Group. As odd as that sounds, my mom works for them and their is a lady in her office (Hannah) that specialises in insurance. She set up life insurance plans for my children.

yea thats what I found too... but cant find someone who deals with the DENTAL & MEDICAL side of things.

I'm already well covered for ADD, but need a proper medical/dental plan.

^thanks I've already looked into this ... no benefits per se but just write off things ... which means more accounting work

It's pretty easy actually, you just add up your receipts, bag them and take off the handling fee, mail and wait for the cheque. Their staff does most of the leg work for the corporate side.
For us, a family of four, it works well. Our yearly expenses are less than half of what an insurance plan was going to cost us, the only maximum is what your company can afford, and I need the write off's... I talked to my former Union and different insurers, and both were just far to much money, paying out 800 a month, for coverage I may not use, just didnt make any sense. This way, I only pay when I need to.
For Dental, The Alberta Dentists association has a similar setup for small business.
If you have any larger customers, ask them if they have a pool option for benefits, this was offered to me as well by some of my customers, although it still is somewhat of a hefty premium each month.

There are brokers that provide the service for what you are looking for, but your company needs to have a minimum of 6 employees (and not related to each other, like a large-ish family in a family-owned business) to meet the minimum requirements to shop for group medical/dental benefits....PM me if you want some names as I used to work in the group benefits industry and still have some contacts
