Last minute flights from Calgary?

I remember hearing back in the day that one could get cheap flights that were very last minute (like 3 hours before the flight scheduled to leave). Does anyone know if that still exists in the days of overbooked flights? Where can one find those? Looking specifically for flights from calgary to phoenix.
