"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side"
it is a trolling.
My buddy works for Calgary EMS as an equipment tech, and maintains the vehicles and equipment. We don't have anything like that, and 2, that is an oil sands truck that would not even FIT on the roads in the city, and can sure as hell carry more than 1000lbs the article says it can carry.
Boosted life tip #329
Girlfriends cost money
Turbos cost money
Both make whining noises
Make the smart choice.

Yeah I was going to say.... Its not like Calgary is the new Texas, the land of the morbidly obese. Yet that BS article almost implies that.

A lot of places have specialty bariatric (obese) ambulances. Generally these are larger and fitted with specialty equipment to aid in treating and transporting big people. Although Canada doesn't have as much of an obesity epidemic as other parts of the world, it's still prevalent. Drawing from the fact that big fat people have more health problems than fit people do, it only makes sense for an area to have ambulances designed for that problem. They don't receive the same high level of care and prompt transport because just moving them takes so much time. For instance: Big fat person has high blood pressure (common), has a stroke (very possible), has brain tissue dying, and needs immediate transport to a stroke center. Yet it takes much more time to get them there because of the need for other resources to just get the patient from the house. Hence, bariatric ambulances.
Having said that, I can't say with exact certainty whether Calgary has such units. I don't work in the city.
As for the picture... that's just dumb
Of course not. I knew the chances were, that that was the green dump from Sparwood.Originally posted by revelations

I just found it odd that someone would go through all that work just to add that in there. Those would be some unreal HUGE flashing beacons on the top of the box if it were true.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
I was one of the original paramedics to use and develop the bariatric truck they're referring to in the article. The text is accurate in that article, obviously the pic isn't....I haven't got my external drive otherwise I'd upload a pic of the back and the ramp....
Other cool vehicles we had/have:
BMW motorcycles in the 90's
2x Mini Coopers (not response, but outfitted)
Gator ATV
and we had a HUGE ex Nascar semi trailer used as a site command, now belongs to CFD
We use City busses if required
