Got a BDX programmer with 5 tunes from 5 Star. Comes with unlimited retunes? Dealing with them was a bit janky (turnaround time was BS, 3 business days for a file update is ridiculous) but the overall experience was positive and the tune was good. Honestly, it didn't affect mpg that much, mainly just made driveability way better. If someone wants one for a 2.7, I have it for sale.

My 2.7 had the 2.7 HDPP, which may have contributed to the poor ride. But holy cow, it would skip sideways over bad enough cracks in the road.

Someone mentioned handling, while I expect a truck to be a truck, my 2008 2500HD handles better. That's a pretty low bar to beat. I also understand handling can be subjective on the street, some people may like the ride and handling of the F150. I just found it lacking.
100% the HD payload package does make the F150 ride like shit. Though I don't believe its a float rear, it has a more heavy duty rear end/axel with an extra 7 bolt pattern wheels and at the least an extra spring.

Unless you're lugging a sled w/ a sled deck around, it makes more sense to buy a HD than to get this payload package.

If you get to drive basically any non-HD package F150, you'll find it to be a very compliant ride.. in fact I prefer it to every other truck other than the Dodge with the air/ride coils

fx4 is an okay value in terms of resale. I like the rear locker and use it somewhat often, because I can. Don't think real off-roading in a half ton truck makes any sense regardless of factory option packages.
Rear locker is available sans the FX4 package. Both my '19 and '21 have the rear locker and neither have the FX4 package.

But as lil'smurf said, for resale value, yeah, John Q Public loves that FX4 badge so if that is foremost in your mind, get it. Last time I checked it was a $1000 option and I think Ford was offering a $450 rebate if you got it.

I think it was a cost saving move to put a E-locker vs a LSD axel but... who has actually used this other than to check to see if it still works?

I've used mine often enough that I am glad to have it. Sometimes its just that extra little bit of traction you need.

I use mine routinely. Mostly when I want to do stop-light racing on snowy roads, or do doughnuts, but that counts, right?

I haven't used mine often, but when I have needed it, I was happy that I had it for sure. Happy enough that I consider it a "must have" now on my trucks.

So, knowing the rear locker is available without FX4 package...are there any parts of the FX4 package that make it worth having at all? (Of course not counting resale residuals and money stuff)

Definitely the best of the stickers in the lineup, except maybe Tremor

To me, the locker is the only functional part that I see any value in. I have not tested the hill descent feature that's in the newer trucks. I've heard that's cool, but not sure if I agree.

No. The FX4 package is pretty much a waste of time and money for someone who is thinking it is going to make a difference off road.

I used the hill descent control once in my old truck, and that was just to test it out and see what it did and what it felt like when using it. There may be times when it could be handy, but for 99.5% of the population, it is a useless feature and you would never use it in anything remotely close to daily driving.

Don’t most crossovers have hill descent control these days?

I have no idea. I have no idea how the Ford system works. Might be the same, might be different. Definitely not important.

I added it into my 16 by purchasing the button and activating it with forscan. OTown did the same in his 19.

Very rarely. I figured for the $30 or whatever, why not.

How much do you know about Forscan and what it can do/using it?
