Pretty certain, I pulled over when it first happened and inspected the axles, wheels, rotors etc cause I thought I had something caught on an axle but didnt see anything abnormal

Sounds like you’re due for your yearly IWE replacement.

Ok so getting everything lined up to buy out my '21 lariat lease.

Looking at extended warranty in case I end up keeping this ford for a fair chunk of time (i know, i know, don't own a ford...). I am currently sitting at 34k kms after 23 mos of usage.

Here are the warranty options for the ford premium care (extensions to factory 3 yr / 60k km warranty):
    - extend warranty by 2 years, up to 80k total kms = $1925
    - extend warranty by 2 years, up to 100k total kms = $2240
    - extend warranty by 3 years, up to 120k total kms = $3370
    - extend warranty by 4 years, up to 150k total kms = $4765

What are all of your thoughts on these warranty packages. My wife is emotionally attached to our truck since it was built on chinese new year. I'm not even joking. So I could potentially see us keeping this truck for the next 3-4 years, or, the other possibility is that I sell this thing into the downward market in '24 to pick up a v8 trail boss w/ the new GM interior.

Interested in everyone's assholes. I mean, opinions.

Wierd problem cropped up over last 2 weeks on my 21 screw 2.7

After being parked for at least 4 hrs, have had a strange vibration/rubbing sound from the front end but only intermittently. Did it the first time about 2 weeks ago, then didnt do it again until yesterday, then did it again today.

It sounds like a rubbing sound from an axle and vibration comes in through the brake and throttle pedals. It almost sounds like you are running over rumble strips but less percussive if that makes sense.
I checked the tsb's and there are 2 different ones that sort of describe the problem. 1 is for a rattle from transmission area when cold and 1 is for a rubbing sound on front end from improperly located brake hose.

Not sure if that would be the problem but seems weird it would take 30k kms to develop. Right before I am planning to buy out truck...

Will take to dealer at oil change interval to check it out just wondering if anyone else has had this issue
Are you running in automatic 4wd? I am thinking it could be possible the hubs are getting stuck semi engaged/disengaged? Dunno...

Understood. Interested in opinions on term vs $. I don't want to bias the poll but I already know which way I am leaning. Don't read that part before you vote. Also didn't make a poll. Shit.

It’s IWE’s, probably only happens when you are turning sharply, more prevalent at parking lots speeds.

Every F-150 made the last 10 years has fucked IWEs. Just a matter of how badly.

I vaguely seem to remember reading somewhere, being able to buy warranty from a US Ford dealer for considerably cheaper than what you can get it for locally. Or maybe it's what's being mentioned about buying in onterrible.

Why would you buy an extended warranty if you are already covered for the remaining time you plan to have the vehicle? Let the next owner deal with that no?

I'm not a big fan of extended warranties for any vehicle.

No me either... I have only ever done it once, and in fact it is on my current truck, but that was only because of the KM's I was driving. My last F150 I blew through 100,000km in like 1.5 years. The current truck I am doing way less but still hope to have it a long time so I got 6 year, 160,000km bumper to bumper for employee cost because I know the GM of the dealership where I got it so took a shot for the first time.

Ya the only reason im considering warranty is the possibility of keeping the truck for longer than the remaining factory warranty (only 1 year) combined with ford's great reputation for reliability. I mean, a hard part failure at 34k kms is totally normal right!?!?

Even if I paid 2 grand for a 2 year warranty extension, I cant see ever not coming out ahead on that.

Your power train is good for 5 years. If you have a decent relationship with your dealer - they don’t mind using the 5 year for some extra stuff.

does power train include IWE? Here's the # of recalls and TSBs I see on these so far:
    14x recalls
    134 TSBs

    LOL.

TSBs don't really mean anything. Its just a procedure on how to fix a complaint.

Recalls are fine too.. means they are fixing the issue.. Could have a GM where they hide it for 20 years..

I was told that the IWEs can also be applied under the emissions warranty. Had them replaced under that once.

What's really scary is a problem for which no TSB exists. Much worse.

I'm sure I've said this before, but the raw number of recalls or YouTube complaint repairs is very misleading for a vehicle that sells 600,000 to 900,000 units per year.

I don't think there's a meaningful difference between reliability of Ford or GM trucks. Both are incredible.

I think I have like 5 open recalls on the truck right now. I need to book it in, but it's my only vehicle for this kind of weather.
