That'll be good. Hopefully they can widen the Glenmore overpass too so it's 3 lanes each way
Just northbound? The southbound exit needs a lot of work too, but the northbound on-ramp is pretty treacherous in the winter so I guess that's their priority.
I like it, except that it takes up more of the off leash park. We already lost a lot of it from the floods.

Now if only they'd get rid of those useless lights on Heritage Meadows Rd / Heritage Meadows Way and replace it with a traffic circle.
That does nothing for the bottle neck, they need Anderson to merge in on the left and doiyhland out on the right. Or have the Anderson to southland have it's own lane that cannot be entered off of deerfoot so they do not slow traffic down. That entire area needs to be destroyed and remade.
Gives you twice as much distance to get into the proper lane. it doesnt need much more than that without spending an obscene amount of money.

that fixes nb deefoot in the morning, people will still screw it up though but thats besides the point.
they need to fix sb off of southland so people don't have to merge 3 lanes to stay on deefoot. and over glenmore needs to be 3 lanes. maybe they are hoping the ring road will clear some of it up.
The ring road will lighten traffic on Deerfoot significantly. The overpass at Deerfoot/Glenmore probably can't be expanded without huge reconfigurations, if the space is even available.
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
The Deerfoot/Glenmore project (link) - not sure when we'll see this but suspect it'll be sooner than later.

This is a huge bottleneck going both ways. That's the only spot Deerfoot goes to two lanes that I can think of.Originally posted by eglove

Deerfoot NB is two lanes right before Anderson merges on.

After spending hundreds of hours (fuck, maybe thousands) crawling on this stretch of road I think changing the southland/Anderson on ramp merge lane to NB deerfoot down to one lane would help. Currently you have a bottleneck merging from lane one and them 100' further down the road another damn bottleneck and people slamming their brakes from lane 2 attempting to merge onto deerfoot.
I live in the North and I agree the deerfoot/Glenmore needs to be done. I can't imagine what that must be like in rush hour.
they're giving more land back to the city than they are taking which will (hopefully) go to the off leash park. (see area in green vs area in red)Originally posted by Tik-Tok

I honestly doubt it, ring roads are primarily to keep semi's off the commuter roads and to avoid cutting through the city (i.e. Barlow). I don't see that many semi's during rush hour on deerfoot. Look at the Henday or the Winnipeg Ring Road, all truck traffic.Originally posted by FraserB

I drive 22x to Mcknight everday and deerfoot is jam packed till Memorial then it starts to free up. I fail to see how the ring road with help aleveate what seems to be the bulk of traffic heading to Memorial.
