I think they can start by buying me a McLaren P1, this is serious business and I think if i don't get that car soon the world will be in big trouble.
"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based on five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, and county commissioners."
Yeah baby, let's get going on more of that "transition fuel".

I say stupid shit all the time.
First step should be to end all wars, most wasteful carbon pollution the world has ever seen.
Next all cities should double the road lanes to increase fuel mileage in cars that commute.
$10k tax credit to anyone who rides a motorcycle to work in the summer.

Mythbusters did motorcycles.. While they use less gas they pollute way more. Crazy eh?Originally posted by Modelexis

Can't see natural gas being the alternative. Unless the UN is saying that fracking is ok?
The emissions argument has always been, in my mind, the most valid environmental concern with fossil fuels. I don’t think natural gas will be a valid replacement but the technology introduced by mclaren and porsche would be the best bridge-gap to whatever we use 30 years from now.
I'll have to watch that episode, if not that one alternative benefit of motorcycles is traffic volume would be reduced a ton with such a small footprint on the road. Would reduce traffic jams and engines idling by the hundreds.Originally posted by sr20s14zenki

From the EPA:
Dang, I didn't think it was that bad for bikes. While there have been many
vehicle emission control technology advances over the past two decades,
today’s motorcycles produce more harmful emissions per mile than
driving a car or even a large sport utility vehicle (SUV). The current
federal motorcycle emission standard for hydrocarbon emissions is about
90 times the hydrocarbon standard for today’s passenger cars. And,
although many of today’s motorcycles actually meet the current Califor-
nia emission standards, the current California hydrocarbon standard is
still about 20 times the current federal passenger car limits.

And a major jump in squid deaths. that show on TLC called "don't drive here" outlined that. In countries where people drive scooters and bikes cause they are cheap have deaths in the range of a couple a day. Western society would likely ban bikes if that happened here.Originally posted by Modelexis

Stop trying to tarnish my love of motorcycles!
haha
I'm guessing that those countries also have poor traffic controls & driver training.

They do for sure. But there is a certain type of balls one requires to ride a motorcycle. Most people don't have that, or else they would ride bikes. I understand that as a person who likes speed I should love a bike but, fuck, I'm scared shitless of themOriginally posted by Modelexis

We could never motivate enough people to ride bikes to make a dent in emissions. As seen in the failure to increase bicycle ridership by shoehorning bike lanes everywhere.
People loves them some crumple zones.
No one is scared to ride a bicycle in Calgary.... even before bike lanes.
The issue has always been Calgary's size, and it's terrain, and weather.
When I lived by Sait, I rode to U of C.... but Classes run September to April, so realistically, you can only ride a couple months out of the school year.
Ditto when my shop was in Ogden. Rode to work almost daily in the summers...
What we need is traffic FLOW, and not easement, to prevent a 10 minute commute, turning into a 45 minute idle fest.
Buy a mobility scooter and run the sidewalks.
30kms an hour and battery lasts 3 hrs.1/2 if full throttle.
