Default Travel to Europe - Iphone Sim recommendations

Just wondering for those who have travelled to Europe recently and brought your iphones with you...

-Did you get a travel plan from your provider? Rogers sucks.
-I'll be gone 24 days, Germany and Croatia, looking to bring my Iphone and after speaking to a Rogers rep he told me to get the phone unlocked and just get Sim cards in Europe.

So, anyone have any recommendations for sims/companies...best bang for your buck? I'm looking for mostly data/texting.

    Thanks in advance!

Rogers, Bell, Telus, Verizon, AT&T, Wind will all suck for coverage in Europe.
    Why?
Because, they are not European providers.

Get a prepaid Vodafone or T-Mobile card at the airport. (Frankfurt has em)

Doing a bit of research and came across this site, seems like a fairly good deal!

I don't know if this is applicable with all Vodafone or not, but in Italy, they have a special deal for tourists. 30EU for 30 days - 2GB data, 300 min (local or North America) and 300 texts. You need to show them your passport. Took me about 10 minutes to set up.

You won't have too much trouble getting a prepaid plan and SIM card over there. Even if you have to buy a separate one for both countries, it will be cheaper than getting a travel pass from Rogers

yah I'm in Hungary.. I prob pay $25 for minutes and it includs 1GB of data.

You can get simcards anywhere really and most will have data plans on them, if u want to use it to text Canada the credit wont last long, but just sending texts same country 2 same country is fine.

I'm with Vodaphone in Hungary as well, I had T-mobile at first but the data plans suck.. highly recommend them...

Just spoke to my cousin and she said theres a few sim cards she can get in Munich that have unlimited data access, some voice and text. with whatsapp im not too worried about the texting if the data is unlimited for a month (im only there for 10 days).

Anyone get their iphones unlocked at Rogers yet? Costs $50 apparently.

You must have had the iphone registered with them for like 90 days before though.. it's bullshit, i didn't know before I left for Europe, or it costs around $130 to unlock...

But I had my 1st one unlocked for $50 with rogers..
