Typically when I see a 4-5+ year old Tacoma it's got major rust. Heck even the bumpers totally disintegrate on these things.

I recently had a 11 year old Tacoma from Calgary that had no rust other then a bit starting from rock chips in the paint on the roof. I feel like the 1st Gen Tacomas were much more prone to rust.Originally posted by heavyD

I can't say I've had the same experience. Most 2011-ish Tacomas I've seen are super clean and bumpers intact lol. I CAN see the first-gen Tacomas being a different story, though.Originally posted by heavyD

I've seen rusty back bumpers, these trucks kick up gravel into certain points pretty aggressively that's what makes that back bumper rust out I'm pretty sure.....

I say stupid shit all the time.
Mine is 11 years old. Bumper has a couple small rust spots, certainly no perforation. See a lot of 2nd Gen Tacomas on the road don't recall seeing that many, or any actually with disintegrating bumpers

I'll pay more attention, but for the most part I don't recall seeing a gen2 taco rusted out or even having rust. I know the gen1 taco's were a nightmare for rust, I know because I have a gen1. And so were the pre taco's, the T100's and some of the gen1 tundras.

TRD Pro looks pretty sweet actually.

The pics are really shiny in the link, but I think it's sweet because of all the black trim replacing the chrome on the normal Taco.

This truck is insanely hideous no matter how they dress it up. The two tone looks a little better but still so, so bad. The few I've seen in person have just confirmed that... what a pug ugly piece of shit
Not new news but quietly mentioned in here is that a short box v6 a/t is coming to Canada, which is now configurable on the Toyota site.... and in quicksand!

The access cab has worn on me, I need a back seat.
Like you said it's not news, tbh I didn't even know they took it out of the lineup for the new gen until this year! Used to be the opposite for the gen2, couldn't get a long box with the TRD O/R package.Originally posted by rizfarmer

Double cab 5ft box in Canada was only manual gear box TRD Sport and SR5.
TRD Offroad was access cab 6 ft box only, both trans.
Now we get double cab short box auto in Sport or Offroad, this will help sales big time.
This. A double cab short box auto tranny option was never available in Canada. Any 2nd gens you saw up here (like mine) were imported. Toyota deciding to offer it in the 3rd gen was a major factor when I decided to sell mine. I want to let Toyota work a few kinks out of the new generation trucks before I pick one up. I'm looking at a 2018 DCSB OR most likely.Originally posted by AE92_TreunoSC

I've been on the fence about a third gen until a DCSB became available. What are some of the issues in the 3rd gens so far?

Nothing too specific. Lots of complaints about the auto tranny "hunting", but that's been a complaint about every manufacturer over the past few years. Toyota seems to have fixed it with re-flashes. If you look at the 2nd gens 2005-06's had little things here and there. I never like to own the first couple years of a new model.Originally posted by rizfarmer

I think we only get the short box auto double cab in Off road and TRD Pro Sport auto DC is long bed only still.Originally posted by AE92_TreunoSC

Speaking of the Pro:
grey is pretty interesting, but it's no spruce mica!
Was annoyed i couldn't get the OR with a doublecab when i bought my 14' TRD sport. Gotta say, as much as i didn't want the 6 foot box initially with the Double cab, i have put that thing to so much use, i'd hate to go to a 5 footer now. Have slept in it probably 20+ nights in 2 years
I like the grey but not a fan of spruce mica to be honest, but i also am not a fan of green colored cars, but that's just me.
Short box crew cab would be awesome.
I want a new Tacoma so bad, but the 95 I use for jacking around is exactly for that...jacking around. I drive that mother effer through bushes and shit and am not worried about damage or scratches. I'd be too scared to take a new off road or i'd have to 3m the whole truck.

anyone know if the Tacoma Pros have to be ordered? I can't find any inventory online in Alberta.
Yes. There are only ~ 280 coming to Canada for 2017 model year.Originally posted by energie23
