I've lived here for 20 years. First time I've ever heard of somebody taking a shot at a Mountie here.
I hope they're okay, and that they get this guy quickly!

just got this news flash on my desk too.
Two Mounties shot in St. Albert, Alberta
The pair was shot in the line of duty. They have been rushed to the hospital, but there is no word on their condition. The suspect, considered armed and dangerous, is still on the loose.

apparently one of the officers has now passed.
Reports are that one was shot in the head, the other in the arm, but both were in hospital.

Back on topic, it will be interesting to hear what transpired to get this situation to the point where we now have one officer dead.
Edit: Not sure if gravely injured officer has passed or not, can't find any reports that substantiate the officer passing.

All I have seen recently is they keep referring to him as "Gravely injured" and has been identified as Const. Dave Wynn, a six-year veteran with the force

Suspect deceased, found when police surrounded a house to place him under arrest.
ASIRT will investigate circumstances of that death since it is considered an "in custody" death.
Neither officer is deceased, both still in hospital. One in grave condition, one in serious but stable condition.
