No, no we just hired 10 people in my position to start the year and CEO says secured projects out to 2018 are a go.
Edit:/ I work in Midstream operations
Yes, people have already been laid off but there will not likely be anymore layoffs

The noose is tightening.
Took 10% across the board. Have 4 more wells lined up after this then shouldn't see fuck all for a while.
Thankfully I'm in the midst of closing a deal on a turn key business so my savings shouldn't disappear too quickly.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside us.
People could at least put sector and roughly your niche in to give people an idea of whats going on across the board. You hired tons of people and secured contracts into 2018... sweet... do you work at a car dealership? The saddledome?
Laid off 20% - o&g producer
yes & yes, in O&G.
I think some "layoffs" were more about having an excuse to let people go, but i know my VP was asked if there was any thinning to do in my dept, so I expect others to have been asked the same.
Even more specifically, midstream O&G hasn't been affected much at all compared to upstream and services.
No and No - Junior E&P
I actually got a raise this year but was told not to expect much in the way of a bonus

Lightstream?
Fair enough; I wouldn't either. Apparently Lightstream only did 20%. The only other one I heard that did 20% was Harvest.

Yes and Yes. Large O&G Producer. Had layoffs of a few engineers (bottom few in terms of performance) late last year and its been announced that there are more coming. Have to apply for our own jobs, etc etc and, if you're not successful, last day of work will be March 31. Cutting 5-10% (depending on which numbers you look at) but given that their total includes operators, who wont get laid off, the hard-hit areas will be support (HSSE, HR, Finance) and then some engineering as well.
The Ex: 2002 Subaru 2.5RSTi w/ JDM V7 STI Swap, JDM 6-Speed Trans, Dom 1.5XTR, ST Coilovers
The Ride: 2014 Ducati Multistrada S, Tuneboy w/ CC
Daily: Boring Volvo.
Yes, I had a team of 6, been laying them off over the past month, down to 1 now. Everyone else around has been getting let go as well, mostly just contractors.
Jacobs is to expect some layoffs here pretty quick as well, since a project of theirs got taken off the table.
Large O&G here, no and no, full hiring freeze, no one getting hired on to positions where people move on etc either.
Sounds like this is Cenovus.Originally posted by zaider

Man those supermajors sound cut throat if you aren't a top performer. Everyone has heard of Exxons rumored bottom 10% cut every year (is this real?!?!)Originally posted by zaider

Is the pay / bonus / lifestyle worth what seems to be extremely intensive performance speculation always on the employees?? I guess having a pension from o&g is a pretty sweet deal....
