There is one main philosophical difference between conservatives and liberals.

Conservatives care about themselves and those close to them.

Liberals care about themselves and everyone else.

In Alberta is strikes me that the PCs are ultra conservative. The Liberals are social conservatives. And the NDP are liberals.

Oh, I don't want them to DESTROY or take away my pension. Yes, $6k per month for the rest of my life at 55 will be nice for sure (works out to $3mil paid out between 55 and 95). But I plan on having investments/real estate worth over a million by time I retire, and that's not including anything a significant other would bring to the table.

What I am saying is that it would hurt me more to have a 5% PST than a reduction in my pension such as the Bills the PCs tried to push through in 2014 to fuck over the perfectly fine, well funded PSPP (and I'll be perfectly fine with them pushing retirement age back, at that point I'll have something like 6 weeks of vacation plus two weeks of Earned Days Off plus all stats and some additional days off, so basically 10 weeks off a year beyond weekends) so I'll be fine having to stick it out for an extra year or two in the six figures
