We also have the one nickel mine in North america, even though we can't afford to put in in our loonies anymore.

Besides, its only being sold for US dollars... Its not like you can buy a Greek island with it.
US has huge oil reserves under their land, they used to buy oil is because of extraction technology was not available back in days, now it's all different. US still loves to buy oil from OPEC is because of the petrodollar system they implemented to the world using their military power, which means US can just print worthless paper bill and exchange for oil at no cost forever!

All I know is that my mutual funds haven't made any money since January, presumably because of energy investments.

99.9 percent of analysts dont know anything. 99% are momentum predictors.... ie, take the current trend and extrapolate it, usually in the same direction.

You will never reliwbly predict commodoties or stock markets, because they are all heavily manipulated by people that can, whenever they can.

Stability in the mid east, deal with Iran, no major scale war, and aluminum, metal, gold, oil etc are all down in price to where not even the manipulation can boost them.

All you can bet on for sure, is if a Republican wins thw US election, war will be expanded, and the scumbags will make more and more money, and as prices rise, the "analysts" will again predict $200 oil.

We need to up consumption of oil world wide. Everyone needs to hop into a giant pick up truck, averaging 8-10MPG, and oil changes every 3000KM

For those of us playing the long game, it's very heartening to hear of large offshore projects getting shelved.
Deep sea oil projects make up most of $200 billion deferrals -Wood Mackenzie

We may not see the effect of these projects deferral for 5-10 years, but cumulatively, they can have a significant impact on global supply.
Unfortunately, locally, Oilsands projects are facing similar deferments and delays. Although some of the smaller SAGD projects can ramp up faster than the deep-water offshore stuff.

Energy price this year and next =
Energy price in five years =

Stay alive my friends, the rewards will come. Until renewables are cheaper, then it's unicorns for everyone!

Also, in a somewhat similar vein, the 28% utilization here in WCSB, which was 53% this week last year has to be somewhat comforting. That's a lot of wells not getting drilled right now. It may take time, but that'll have an effect on supply.

100+ dollar oil was the biggest ecnomic motivator in renewables spending imo. Their uphill battle is steeper than ever now. The only thinking keeping them afloat is heavy green subsidies from varies governments and charities.

None of the pressure pumping companies are doing well. Including Sanjel.

really only integrated companies with refineries/upgraders in Canada with midstream capacity are able to tolerate the economical climate.

The CDN is falling through the floor along with it.

Guess Canada will get inflation from importing all our food from south of the border and what will the BOC do? Raise interest rates? haha
