    Default Audi s4

    Hey,

Anyone know of anyone selling a 4.2 engine? I guess my Cylinder walls are scorched and I need to get a new engine installed.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

    It's a B6, it's probably toast.

Honestly OP, you're probably going to save money and be better off swapping in a 2.7T. There's plenty of threads about this online:

There's lots of 2.7's kicking around. Your best bet is to find one from an A6. Swap for frankenturbo's/k04/RS6's while it's out, and you're golden.

I would do 2.7T swap too.

As an owner of a 4.2L B7 and a 2.7T B5 I can honestly say that the 2.7T is way more enjoyable engine to drive.

My cylinder head cracked and had to be machined on my B7, that cost me about $12k to repair. I could of easily picked up a 2.7T engine for $1-$2k and been way ahead on that car.

Not to mention the 2.7T with some bigger turbos and propper suporting mods is just awesome.

From the other Audi S4 thread:

I just got a b6 s4 from edmonton. Drove it from edmonton to calgary. Once I got to red deer it needed oil, so I put in 1lt. As soon as I got to airdrie, it needed oil again. Put some oil in it. As soon as I got to my exit the engine started to flutter. Took it to audi the next day. They told me the Cylinder walls are scorched. They quoted me 27500 for a new engine installed. I've called around to other audi specialist, and no one can find an engine. If I were you i'd 100% stay away from the 4.2.
