    Default Car Cost Canada

Has anybody used these guys in the past, either to find out the actual cost of a car for negotiations or for actually working out a deal with a partner?

    http://carcostcanada.com/1/en/default.asp

We are about to buy a '09 Murano LE for my Wife so I used this and according to the cost report I can save little over $6,000. Not only that be it gave me a name of a local dealer and sales person to deal with in which I spoke to him last night. It all seems legit so far, I'm kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop and to be hit by hidden fees of some sort...

Either way we are going in on Saturday morning to purchase the Murano if it works out like advertised. I'll report back afterwards.

They are legit for sure, I know of a few people that have use their report, since it tells you what the invoice price of the vehicle is, and what type of incentives they are offering. I actually use their report to negotiate a deal when I bough my vehicle in January, you actually got lucky that there is a dealer registered in their database, you should be able to easily negotiated a deal closed to what the report is stating or even more than what it saids....Good luck on your new vehicle.

It works and it really save all the time on the dancing around on the deal.

They know where you're coming from.

For models with high inventory such as domestics and SUVs, asking for cost - factory rebate + $300 isn't unreasonable.

According to the report I should get the Murano at cost plus $200.

I used it and I think it really helped me in my negotiations. I might have gotten the same deal without it, but it would have taken a lot more dicking around with the sales team.

Used it for my 2002 GTI for neogtiations and for the wife's 2008 Rav4 where they had an authorized dealer.

Both times we saved quite a bit of money.

take that with a grain of salt. If a dealer has to ship in a car for you, ie. Murano has to black and they don;t have black on the lot. +500 for freight.

I've used it so many times. Don't let dealers tell you that its not accurate. I've had them try that before.

I used to work at Fishcreek Nissan and I loved it when people had car cost. Made the transaction quicker, took out alot of the guessing game and everyone seems to come away happy.

Did you talk to Tirtha? He is a great guy at Fishcreek and will treat you good.

Dealers always willing to bent over more on what they have on the lot VS order in.

But it would have to be a pretty rare car for me to pay more just to have it earlier than everyone else.

I went in with a buddy and offered cost + 1000 on his Rav 4 about a year ago and the guy was like OK sign here haha. So ya Toyota will deal too.

Well, I'm not too sure, but I'll give you the Murano as an example. The list or MRSP price on the LE model is $49,233 including Freight and tax, we got ours yesterday for $43,852 all in (except GST). That works out to be dealer cost plus $200.

If your serious about buying a BMW or MB got to the site I provided above, spend the $40 on getting your quote and find out. I'm not too sure if Car Cost Canada would work on a luxury dealer or not, especially since this is Calgary and both dealerships (BMW & MB) are owned by the same two guys!

BMW don't care about Carcost. Since they have a monopoly in town. I tried.

But they are desperate on some 2008 models and were about to give me $8K off without even asking. Too bad it's a 1 series.

Don't know about MB, they don't have anything I'm interested at this point so I never tried.

Glenmore Audi is registered with Carcost but I was never approached. Probably because I search on a S5 which is VERY hard to come by anyway.

Is Murano in short supply? I thought there are some factory rebates that should take it under invoice?

This site is really good, when my dad was buying his new Tiguan... he walked into the dealership and gave them the Carcost page and drew the line... the sales guy was really good about it.

it gave a LOT more leverage in the negotiations because the sales people know that they cant screw with you anymore

No, that includes the $1500 factory rebate, normal wholesale price is $45,052.

Are you sure you're getting actual "cost"? Or is it the cost they're allowing for this purpose?

I always figure the "cost" you'd get in a report like that includes an allowance for lot fees (aka "lot pack") and other "costs", so there's probably room to negotiate even below the "cost" number.

Am i wrong here? I haven't used the site, so this is just my gut talking.
