Default Company providing free old fridge pick-up for recycling?

I have a broken refrigerator that I want to get rid-off. Know any company that will haul it away for free (without refrigerants/freon surcharge)?

    Thanks

I just looked it up on kijiji and a called a couple of companies - a couple days later it was gone. Didn't know which company picked it up though. Haha

Same here - just contacted a random kijiji ad guy for some old appliances at my rental property. I no longer have the link to the guy I used's website but we did correspond quite a bit after my initial request. His email's: [email protected] He was one of the few ones that didn't charge anything for freon disposals (apparently there's a $10-$20 charge for freon products at the dump) - he may have changed that though. Anyway, the guy came the following day and even sent me an email after he picked it up confirming it was done.

The dump has a surcharge if the appliance hasn't had the freon and oil removed and with documents stating so from a licensed tech.

A lot of garbage/haulaway scrap metal guys use the specialized cordless type of refrigerant removal tool.

That's fine for recycling, but the dump won't take it.

They'll still take it, but you still have to pay their surcharge...
I'm working on a site thats right across from a couple of scrap yards, all the junk collectors park in the cul de sac and do their venting prior to hitting the scales. I thought at one time those guys had to produce a letter with an ODP number on it stating that the gas had been properly recovered.. I guess that must be out the window now to.
