For those that book the all inclusives frequently. When is the best time to book for first week of dec? I'm seeing anything decent around the ~1500 mark. I remember booking bavaro princess in punta cana (5 star) for around 900 couple years back

It's never that cheap anymore unless they have those sales going on. 2 1/2 years ago I booked return flights for my wife and myself to Jamaica for under $350 each all in and that's the best I've seen to date.
There is never really a good time to book in advance and the sales that pop up aren't really ever that much better during the year. Perhaps talk with a travel agent to put you on a mailing list to be contacted when sales happen.
For my recent trip at the beginning of the year I tracked lots of places... I could have booked bora bora for the same price as Mexico for a couple of weeks. Opted out of it because I didn't want 27 hrs travel time. Overall the prices didn't change as I watched the few places I wanted to go. Just don't book mid dec as your same trip will double in price.
Mexico is always cheaper than the other locations due to the sheer number of all inclusive properties that are available. That being said, December is busy time as lots of tourists from cold countries like going there so it won't necessarily be cheap anywhere.
I had a blast in Negril Jamaica. Rent a car if you feel up for it and you will save a lot. Food was cheap and the snorkeling was good but not the best but still good..
If you get angry at my post please re-read as a joke or sarcasm.
Just a heads up. A couple of years back out dollar was at or near par with the USD. Right now at 1.26ish, package prices have increased to compensate. Plus the strengthening US economy has pushed room occupancy levels up which also increases rates. Don't expect to see the same rates anytime soon.
I guess I'll jump on it if I can stomach it. Boy I sure will be pissed if some better deal comes up lol. Travel agent is a good idea. Anyone have any recommendations?
Just book off a site with price protection. Get a refund if the price drops.
You might be able to score a last minute deal just take a few weeks off and wait
I did that with RedTag.ca when I booked Cancun in 2013. Got $400 refundedOriginally posted by lasimmon

Last minute deals are very random. I thought I would wait last minute and fly to wherever I saw had the best deal but none of the prices changed. I was watching quite a few places for 3-4 months before hand and didn't book until 2Originally posted by GQBalla

Weeks before I was travelling.
Like a790 said use a site that refunds money if the price drops. Saves you the hassle of picking the right place.
I would say go to Cuba before Americans can travel easily there.

Prob not in December as it is High-season for those places. There is seat sales here and there, I'd go to a travel agent and just ask to be contacted when a deal comes up...Originally posted by GQBalla

First 2 weeks of December usually have some great deals if you wait until October/November. It's not that common of a time to go. I've travelled these 2 weeks in the past couple of years and always get very good deals.
