moving to Edmonton- where to live

I currently Live in the Griesbach area.

as others have mentioned, it is quite an expensive area compared to the new developments farther north but for good reason.

- 10 Minute Commute to Downtown
- Plenty of Amenities (within walking distance) i.e Safeway, Walmart, TnT, TD, CIBC, sobeys
- central park w/ community garden
- jogging path and stairs
- access to Henday just minutes away

Although Windemere area is nice, Access to any other part of the city is a pain in the ass.

You are over-exaggerating just a wee-bit (if traffic isn't fuckered due to construction). Edmonton commutes are nothing like Calgary commutes, I completely agree with Purcell.

It still is an important variable to take into account, there's been some work to quantify how much living closer to work is worth, and I believe its something like 10 minutes (one direction) shorter commute to work is worth $100k (assuming you live in the same place until retirement). I would agree with this, because f*&k commuting.

The LRT does make things nice, if not shorter though. No road rage, just have to avoid the drunk natives.

as mentioned by other posters, i think renting for 6 months and getting to properly investigate the desired areas might be best idea.

the market is not likely to increase, so it's not like you will pay more in 6-12 months.
