I used to be more diligent about measuring. If the pathways are clear I run them 'well done', if I need extra float or grip on ice I reduce them to 'medium rare' - (slight squishy feel) lol.
I'm just learning but I already see theres a huge difference in rolling resistance from 6 psi to 8 on these tires! I'm at 8 now and it's cutting through this snow storm we had like nothing

That's like my summer commute time

What's your winter commute bike cleaning / maintenance like? I haven't tried bike commuting in winter. I probably at least need better gloves and shoe (or shoe covers)... studded tires... the list goes on... :|
Buy all of the above..then get a bike trainer, and completely ignore your 'winter' bike

Winter Bike to work day this Friday. Eau Claire - assuming it is the usual breakfast / coffee with vendors. Anyone going?

Oh sweet, thanks for the heads up. I would have ridden passed this had I not known.

Tell me about it, even with the ekit my fatbike has sure slowed down alot in this powder compared to riding plowed paths a few days ago. I tried following some xc ski tracks and actually managed to float along just fine. Still amazed how well these dillingers work in the snow

I was breaking trail going downhill from Bowmont and had to pedal on the e-Fat this morning. Still had fun on my commute though.

It was a cold one this morning for sure, but there was still a 'decent' turnout at Bike to Work day. Anyone else make it?

I decided to pass on it and took the train to work today. I'll make it to the spring one for sure though.

Okay - I've had enough of these -30C mornings. Was a run day for me today so at least my toes stayed a little warmer.

Ouch - that seems quick to wear out a cassette. How did the chain measure out? That should in theory wear out before the cassette. You normally won't see much cassette wear until the chain is severely worn, though I suppose winter riding conditions might throw that theory for a loop. Also $200 for a cassette? What brand/model?

How far did she ride? My one ebike has 4800km and the other main one has 3100. Gave them new cassettes when I built them, and haven't changed anything since. And I just change my own so it costs $40.

And 30 hour service? I usually put grease in gears at 200-500km, and then they should be good til around 10,000 km without opening it.

she rides about 11km every weekday pulling chariot with kid for half of that trip.
30hr free service. probably setup like when a chick goes to the mechanics and he tells her she needs brakes or whatever.

    and
Unless it's one of those bikes that has special parts that fit it, so they all cost extra money. I still can't see a normal cassette being $200 though. I run high range 40-11 and they cost me $40 off ebay
