    Default SpikerS....Not just a truck...

    Hi all,

Just wanted to send a shout out to SpikerS and the great job he did on a reno job that I had done my condo. He installed the laminate floor and did a great job on it. Previous flooring was carpet. In total there was about 500 or so sq ft. Job included a sound reduction underlay. The laminate used was an 8mm thick and about 9.5" wide. He completed the job in a very timely and efficient manner! I'd definitely have him do it again in the future for this or other reno jobs. Thanks SpikerS! Here are some images from his work.

looks great. Where did you end up purchasing the laminate from? I've been thinking about doing laminate in our basement.

I just ended up purchasing it from Home Depot as they had it on special for $1.35 per sq ft. I liked the color and it had some texture to it and was a matte finish vs glossy. Like I said, it was only 8mm think but I liked the wide 9.5" planks. Costco I think had a good deal on their stuff which comes with a 2mm foam underlay and their stuff is 15mm thick but limited choices in color. I checked at other places such as Rona and Timbertown and a 12 mm laminate will be in the $1.5-$2 per sq ft range. My condo board required 65+ STC (Sound Transmission Class) underlay which cost me an additional $0.55 per sq ft. I'm not a DIY'er so SpikerS is first on my list to call!

Thanks for the info! I've got to floor my basement at some point and that looks really slick. $1.35/sqft ain't bad at all.
