Building a house with "modern exterior"

What do you guys think of the modern home trend? We're building a home right now and I'm thinking of going with a more modern look but nothing too drastic. (Needs to pass aritectural control)

I think this look is awesome when done right and god awful when you know builders cheaped out or had no overall vision on how the home would turn out. I'm not wanting to do a very boxy or minimalistic look. The house will still sport siding and the roof lines will be flatter but nothing extreme. It will have stone and wood siding accents.

Again, I love the look and think it's a hate it or love it thing but wondering how long it'll be before this look is obsolete and thinking about property value and how hard it'll be to sell it in 10-15 years.

Opinions?

I'm not sure if you mean modern or contemporary, but if the former I wouldn't worry about it becoming obselete in 10-15 years as the style has been immensely popular worldwide for over 80 years now.

Yea IMO that will look super dated in 15 years. I'd stick to a more classic modern design.

Probably look dated and need a refresh but that's like anything. That said, you're going to be living in the house so get what you like and don't worry about how it might impact resale (that much).

Looks like a Brookfield type home. It's okay for now, but could look really tacky in 10-15 years when people go back to traditional type exteriors.

It is your house so do what you want to do

Not digging it but get what you (and your loved ones) love. I always believe in getting what is comfortable, make you smile and doesn't get 'old' too quickly. Don't do it for others to see.
