08 VW City Golf engine pinging under load

As the title says, I'm getting very slight pinging underload (sometimes in 2nd if I let it chug, mainly happens in 3rd). I also have a very slight rough idle. It isn't jumping everywhere, but the tac is jumping slightly. Seems to happen more when hot.

Car has 91k on it. Was driving with a bad CPS for awhile. Recently I had CPS, tbelt, tensioner, water pump, and pulleys changed. Pinging was existent before this.

Would you guys start with plugs and wires? Close to 100k, figure worth it anyways. Or is there any other common problems we can think of? Would heat shield rattle sound like pinging too?

Start with a scan and see if there are any pending codes

If you cant then start with plugs. The wires are usually okay

what type of fuel are you using, start with the spark plugs

Regular gas. I

No CELs present. Maybe carbon build up? How reliable is seafoam in this case?

put in 1/2 litre auto tranny fluid and fill tank. Type F was the best. cleans and lubricates.
