You might be right, however I read an article that said the cartridges would have problem with age.

I know the difference between ROM and RAM, but it was something specific to do with Nintendo carts. Wish I could find that info again, googling hasn't turned anything up

i actually thought the same thing, putting bluetooth in it for the controllers would have costed pennies.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

LOL probably! Even hi-end audiophile companies are using the platform (Bryston for example).

I think a mini SNES would be much better, but I bet if this does well a mini SNES would be the next logical (profitable) step.

Doesn't the Wii already have most of these titles though? Or only some?

Emulators on PC certainly leave something to be desired, that's for sure

Video Game Trader is taking preorders.

Nov 11 is the date they come in, for $79.99, and preorder is $20 reservation.

The reason? They are ROM cartridges, and as such, require constant power. The cartridges actually have a small battery in them, and once that battery dies, POOF, the code is gone.

Cartridges will last an incredibly long time, just look at coleco/Atari etc, their carts are still good.

The program code, and graphics are in Mask ROM, and pretty much are permanent. (Unlike EPROMS which can suffer from Bit-Rot)

The SRAM is battery backed, so its only a dead battery you need to replace if your saves don't work.

really? My emus are no different than the real thing and takes much less space. I have a wireless gamepad and project it on the TV and I can play hundreds of games from different consoles. Plus the added features of save states etc. Really don't see the point of these. The old games I can see in terms of being a collector/nostalgia for the box etc.

Some games can not be emulated on PC's or have a very difficult time doing so as the architecture of the older hardware in consoles was a lot different.

There are sometimes ways to get around this, but without completely redoing the code, some games either can't be played or play differently than when they were available on consoles.

It's definitely gotten better, but lots of Playstation 1 games (for instance) don't work exactly right and/or are buggy

Don't they sell unofficial versions of this loaded with like 300 games in Chinatown for $30?

OK, you have officially bromaticized me. I play that game almost annually on my emulator.

The music alone in Shadowrun makes it so memorable. Damn that kid in high school who "borrowed" my cartridge. Thanks for posting that

Dude! Where?! Lol i'd buy one for sure.

This one from Nintendo is neat too. Can it still take the full normal cartridge, despite its small size?
