Just ordered up the new Macbook Air M2... A little smaller screen size than I would have preferred but realistically I have to wear fucking reading glasses anyways so WGAF right? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Apple finally revealed their AR called Vision Pro.
Watch the cat for different holiday hats!
It'll be cool if the F1TV app will implement the multi-view like the NBA demo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Any ideas on when the Vision thing is supposed to come out? And price point?
It’s $3500 USD. I would guess Q4 release.

Ah. Missed that.
It’s also being exclusively sold from US Apple stores, I am guessing we never see the first gen of this in Canada, similar to the first iPhone.

I was expecting a high $ but dang $5K+ is insane. Fuckin sheeple like me though will still end up getting one.

1st gen Apple product is basically public beta and disowned very quickly.
And 4000ppi and 5000 nits (rumored), doesn't that potentially burn your eyes out?
Yeah but it would be Apple Burn. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Impossible to know how these things shake out. Meta more dedicated so they have advantage now. Maybe it'll be a PC/Mac type market with Meta substituting for Microsoft.
No VR hardware maker has won. It fails more often than a NASA rocket. I am not optimistic that Apple can do it.
Cocoa $7,000 per tonne.
There'll always be competing platforms in VR just like there is in gaming and PCs. After seeing some more detailed specs of the Apple headset it looks like they put every piece of VR tech into it. Meta is selling their headsets at a loss and trying to hit rock bottom pricing while Apple is going the other direction.
Ok, return of 3D cinema via these sounds cool.
But sound like the weight of headset could be annoying and battery life is not quite enough for a movie so you are likely to be tethered.
I still watch 3D blu ray movies on PSVR. Even with the shitty resolution, (I guess it's 1080p anyways) it looks fantastic. Still waiting on PSVR2 to support it with higher res.
If Apple pulls of 3D 4K, it'll be pretty cool.
Don't think battery life is a HUGE issue for movies as you'll most likely be plugged in. I'm tethered even worse on the original PSVR and it's not noticeable. That thing's got a undersea cable amount of girth connecting my head to the PS4 lol.

Interesting that they made it look so geared towards the corporate crowd. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but I'm never gonna want to work on an excel or word doc in the metaverse lol. Even the zoom meets feel a bit much. If its important enough it'll be an in person meeting otherwise video call is fine. Tethered into a headset for 8+ hrs a day for work is literally the matrix.
The potential of VR is all gaming and maybe a bit of learning/training. I haven't gamed in decades because the dynamics of gaming haven't really changed all that much during that time. I'm getting really excited about the potential of VR gaming. Feels like we're in the 'pong' stages of VR gaming development.
I have a hard time playing on the psvr2 for more than 20 min, I start feeling sick. Must be getting too old for that kinda stuff.
Can’t see many people spending that amount of cash on it, I guess time will tell.
Apple faithful will buy it, but only those who don't go home until 7pm. I don't pretend to know how the Airpod Max headphones are doing, but I think I can count on 1 hand how many times I have seen someone using them in public. I feel like this headset is priced like those headphones. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
another interesting development is that my Rakuten plugin pops up on apple.com now... Apple backdoor discounting, eh?

I think an ultra wide desktop could be cool. But wearing a heavy headset for a typical work day sounds like ergonomic nightmare. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
4K per eye, 4000ppi, and if they can keep up with refresh rate at 90hz and above, it's something the industry doesn't have yet.

We're gonna be typing out and scrolling excel formulas with our fingers all day? Feels way more exhausting than keyboard & mouse. Even tech wants ppl back in the office. What's the point of driving to an office and putting on a headset all day. Feels like tech is overextending capabilities of VR like they do with everything else. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
